What's next?
The Fairy
John opened the refrigerator, looking at what was inside. “If she’s late, Mom’s probably gonna be at least another hour or two, and knowing her, she’s probably not going to be in the mood to cook for herself… Hmmm.”
John had an idea. He grabbed a couple blocks of cheese, some meat, spinach and a few other things along with the pizza sauce and garlic butter.
Opening the cupboard he took out three naan breads. He covered two of them in pizza sauce and toppings before covering them with cheese, basil and Italian herbs.
He slathered the last naan in garlic butter, cut it into fingers and topped it with a small amount of cheese. He put one of the pizzas with half the garlic naan into the refrigerator while throwing the rest into the oven for fifteen minutes.
While the food cooked, John walked to the refrigerator and stored a bottle of pop into his inventory. Knowing he had a guest so he couldn’t be an animal and drink right from the bottle, he reached into the cupboard and stored one glass before pausing as he reached for another. “She’s not very big… I should find something that she’ll find easier to handle,” he thought out loud.
He thought for a moment before opening one of the lower cupboards. ’One of these plastic tumblers Mom uses outside in the summer should work. They’re thinner and taller so it should be alright,’ he thought, willing one of the coloured plastic glasses into his inventory.
The kitchen smelled divine and soon enough the pizza was ready. He cut it up and put it onto a large plate making it easier to share. Then stored it and a couple of smaller plates in his inventory.
John’s brow furrowed. “Wait, what am I even doing? I don’t even know this fairy or what she wants, why the hell am I feeding her?” His stomach rumbled and he looked down. “Well, yeah, I guess you’re right, stomach, I can’t exactly eat and **** her to watch.”
John chuckled at himself and walked towards the staircase, pausing to look at the note board. He jotted a note for Brenda and turned a little blinking light on to catch her attention before going upstairs.
Entering his room, he chuckled quietly as he saw the small fairy sitting in his computer chair spinning around like a child. John cleared his throat. “Sorry, I’ve just never seen anything like this. Oh shit, I’m super dizzy,” she said as she hopped out of the chair and almost fell, clinging to John’s waist before pushing away and placing a hand on the wall to steady herself.
“Try spinning the other way a couple of times,” John suggested.
She looked at him confused before doing as he said. “Oh, it worked… I should probably introduce myself now, right?”
“Probably, yeah,” John answered, walking over and sitting on the foot of his bed.
“Right… I am Dahlia,” she stated proudly. Then she looked down and John strained to hear as she mumbled, “We did meet before. I got captured by kobolds and we crossed paths as I escaped.”
She stood in front of John, not looking at him for a couple of seconds before shaking her head violently. “No! That’s a lie, You saved me. They starved me, poked and prodded at me at all hours of the day making it hard to even sleep. My perception of time had skewed, I wasn’t even sure if it was day or night… Then you showed up. I should have thanked you properly, then and there but I was **** for freedom and I couldn’t tell if you were even real or if you were a hallucination. I had to take my chances…”
John thought back to the kobolds. The fairy he’d seen there was much smaller, not quite the size of Dewdrop but still very small, not only that she was a green-brown colour. Believing that Dahlia and that fairy were one and the same was a little hard, but John gave a reassuring smile and nodded. “I’m glad you are okay then. I assume that you wanted to introduce yourself and thank me as a way to repay me?”
“Exactly, John… I swear by oak and ash and thorn that from this day forward I will serve you loyally. I swear to carry out any and all orders you give to the best of my abilities, no matter what the order may be,” the fairy declared.
John let out a loud groan, “Why? Wait, if you will do anything I order… I order you to do whatever you want to do. Go be your own person or whatever.” A smile crept onto his face as he felt particularly proud of his loophole.
Dahlia smiled and nodded. “Thank you for allowing me to assign myself. I choose to serve as your loyal attendant, as well as taking it upon myself to protect your home.”
John‘s smile faltered. “But, wait… no… don’t you wanna go back to the Silverwood? Or even go travelling or something?”
She shook her head. “No, I have no desire to become a vagabond, and I can’t go back… They left me, I was a prisoner for years and they gave up on me… I can’t stay there.”
John felt a slight tinge of guilt. “Fuck… I’d be a monster to toss you out into the streets after hearing that.” He sighed. “Fine, you can stay. Just don’t let my mom see you; she doesn’t know about magic and I haven’t decided if I should tell her about any of it yet.”
“Of course, I will ensure I am hidden.” Dahlia nodded, her lips curled slightly into a smile.
“You are going to need somewhere to sleep… Actually, I’ll figure it out later. Are you hungry? Or thirsty? Because I am starving,” John asked.
“Oh, you needn’t worry yourself. I will hunt and scavenge for my own food,” Dahlia reassured John.
He rolled his eyes and all but ignored her claim. He pulled both glasses from his inventory, passed Dahlia the smaller of the two and placed the other on his nightstand. He removed the bottle of pop and poured himself a glass, then turned to Dahlia and filled her glass. She opened her mouth to protest but John shushed her as he placed the bottle on the floor. “Why don’t you try it first,” he suggested.
Dahlia slowly lifted the drink and took a sip. Her eyes widened, and she eagerly chugged the rest. John laughed and poured her some more, then apparated the plates and food. “Have as much as you want. If you’re going to be staying here, I’m not going to **** you to struggle to find food and drink. It isn’t like it’s all that hard for me to get any of it. Also, I’ll make sure to show you where you’ll be able to get water if I’m not around, but we can do that after we eat.”
The fairy nodded before reaching over and grabbing a slice. “So, uh. I have an ability where I can see information about people and things, would it be okay if I used it on you?
Dahlia paused halfway through pushing a whole slice in her mouth. “Of corsh, I’m ach your bech ang caal,” she struggled to say while battling to keep pizza in her mouth.
John laughed and shook his head. “Next time, just finish eating, you don’t have to answer the second I ask a question,” he said then cast Observe.
Name: Dahlia
Title: - | Class: Retainer/Guard | Guild: -
Level: 32 | Age: 38 | Gender: F | Race: Great Fairy
Body type: Petite | Height (cm): 93 | Breast size: C
RP: 80 | Sex: E | Relationship Status: Single
Current Mood: Happy, Relieved, Content, ExcitedCharacter Info:
The rightful Titania of the Silverwood Grove, she happily gave up the position to Leilani even knowing the fae dragon’s true race. She knows that if she returns to the Silverwood, the other fairies could very well decide to have her become Titania, but she would rather have Lani remain on her throne.
As a prisoner of the kobolds in the mountain, she spent seven years withering away with no hope of escape. She doesn’t know why but the kobolds never sold her into slavery, like their other prisoners. She suspects she might have served as a warning to the other fairies, but can’t be sure.
Despite the feeling of betrayal and resentment towards the other fairies, she still loves each and every one of them and would give her life willingly to protect them.
Her laid back personality enables her to roll with the punches (lucky too, because most others who would be imprisoned for so long might not fare as well as she has). After something to eat and drink and a moment to spread her wings, the ordeal has left barely a scar on her.
Opinion:
Because you saved her, she has an idealistic image of you. Despite the ordeal not leaving her broken, being close to you still makes her feel safe and secure.
She really wants to impress you by carrying out your orders well. You might find her occasionally slipping into speaking articulately to improve your opinion of her, despite her hatred for “proper speaking”.
And just because you are a horny perv: She sees you as an attractive human. Though she hasn’t thought of you in a sexual way at all, she’d probably be willing to entertain orders of that nature.
John nodded, reading through the sheet while absentmindedly chomping down on his food. He turned to Dahlia, paused and let out a quiet chuckle. She had her mouth half full, holding a slice of garlic bread in one hand and another slice of pizza in the other.
He cleared his throat. “So, uh, what’s a great fairy? And is it different from a regular fairy?”
Caught like a deer in headlights, Dahlia froze before forcing herself to swallow the food she was currently munching on. “Gah, uhm, I mean… A Great fairy is kind of like a princess bee. We are bigger and have different abilities. Then, when we go through the ceremony to become Titania, we become more in tune with the nature spirits around our domain, but I declined that role.”
He nodded, taking in the information. “By the way, don’t bother being formal, I did say earlier it was fine to be more relaxed or whatever. Anyway, let’s finish eating. We are going to need to do a few things before my mom gets home. I need to show you where to get something to eat and drink anytime you need something and I also need some supplies for your bed.”
Dahlia nodded and they both polished off the rest of the pizza. For a girl roughly half John’s height, she could really put away food. Once done, John put the dirty dishes into his inventory and headed towards the door.
“Follow me. I need to grab something from my mom’s room then we’ll head downstairs to show you some stuff around the house,” John said.
The two walked out of John’s room and around the railing of the stairs to get to Brenda’s room. John quickly made his way into her walk-in closet and grabbed the spare duvet. “My mom bought these years ago for guests. As you can probably tell, they’re unused.”
He also grabbed a throw pillow which was the perfect size for Dahlia and a blanket. Once he’d gotten everything he needed to collect, he rushed to Brenda’s bed. He climbed to the headboard and looked out of the window into the street. “Mom’s not in sight yet which is good. Come, I’ve got a couple things downstairs to show you.”
The two headed downstairs and into the kitchen. “Okay. So, if you need anything to drink, you can either get a bottle of pop from the refrigerator here,” he emphasised by opening the fridge, then he moved over to the tap and turned the faucet, “or you can get water from here.”
Dahlia quickly moved over to the sink and began turning the water on and off. “Is this a kind of magic?”
John laughed. “No, not magic, just plumbing. Essentially, there are pipes which move the water around underground. Anyway, for food, we have a cupboard here which has cereal, chips and snack bars. If you want something sweeter, I have a snack drawer upstairs I’ll show you, just try not to eat everything in there.”
The fairy continued turning the water on and off as John spoke and nodded as he showed her where the food was.
“There is also fruit in the fruit bowl, not like you can’t see it, since it’s literally on the counter. That’s everything downstairs, so let’s head back up before my mom gets home; she should be back soon,” John stressed.
Dahlia took the lead and walked in front of John as they headed up the staircase which was when John realised something. “Uh, Dahlia, what happened to your wings? Actually, what happened to the armour you were wearing?”
Instead of the metal looking upper body armour she had on before, she now had a cowl the same magenta colour with similar golden accents.
“Well, I don’t need to wear armour when there isn’t any danger. I changed after exiting the barrier I’d set up, and as for my wings, one of the things I can do as a great fairy is to have my wings meld into my body, it’s just more convenient,” Dahlia informed John.
John nodded. “That’s actually pretty useful.”
Instead of heading right to his room, John ushered Dahlia into the bathroom. “Okay, there’s another sink in here, if you need a drink and don’t want to go downstairs. If my mom is home, make sure you don’t turn the water too high or she’ll be able to hear it. There is also a shower here if you need to clean up.” He illustrated by walking into the shower and turning the water on. “It’s like the tap but you can use it to wash, and there is soap in these bottles.”
Dahlia didn’t speak, hanging on every word. “Right, that’s everything I think you’ll need to know. Let’s get back to my room and I’ll set up your bed,” he said.
The two walked into John’s room and he moved to the fitted wardrobe, opening one of the two sliding doors. “Do you have a preference on how high you’d want to have the bed? I can put it on any of the five shelves. Take your pick, I’ll just empty the shelf to make way for your bed.”
Dahlia looked up and down inside the wardrobe. “I don’t want to be all the way up at the top but being a little higher would be comfortable, I think.”
John nodded before pulling everything out of the fourth shelf up, pushing it under his bed. He pulled out the duvet and folded it neatly, placing it onto the shelf to act as a mattress. Next he used the blanket and the throw pillow to make the rest of the bed.
He moved over to his desk, opened a drawer and pulled out the LED light he tossed into his junk drawer. Instead of an on-off switch, the thing had a slider which intensified the brightness; at its brightest, however, it wasn’t even as bright as his phone torch. The thing had a sticky back so John removed the plastic and then stuck the light on the wardrobe back in a convenient spot.
“Okay, I think this should work, at least for now.” He nodded, folding his arms in triumph.
Dahlia bowed her head. “It’s perfect, thank you very much… I’ve not been able to sleep very well since escaping, no matter how hard I tried,” she said, moving over to the makeshift bed and running her hand over it. “I’ve been getting the feeling that I might wake up and I’ll be in my cell, that all this has just been a dream or hunger and sleep-deprived hallucination. Would you mind if I tried to sleep? Just for a little while.”
John smiled. “Of course, and you can sleep for as long as you want. I have to send a message to some friends, but I plan to go to sleep soon, too, it’s been a long day. It’s possible you might wake up and I’ll be gone, I have some things to do tomorrow, but I’ll be back eventually.”
Dahlia nodded and John moved over to his computer, turning it on.
“Sleep well, John,” Dahlia said. He turned to look at her and she stood completely naked just in front of the wardrobe; he quickly turned back to the computer, blushing.
“Uhm, night…” he said as his body tensed.
The sound of the wardrobe door closing was almost deafening; then, the sound from John’s computer brought his attention back to what he was doing. He loaded up Discord, finding a ton of messages from all of his gaming buddies. Instead of messaging them all individually, he decided to @everyone on their server.
< J: Sup, you big bag of dicks! Sorry for vanishing, been a busy week. Don’t really want to get into it but I’m dating someone. >
The chat blew up, insincere insults flying, things like “your hand doesn’t count as a girlfriend” and “what’s his name?” John just laughed them off and apologised for being missing but let them know he was likely going to vanish again for a while.
Once that was all taken care of, he headed to the bathroom. He did his nightly routine. On his way back he noticed that the downstairs light was on. He leaned on the bannister, looking down at the corner of the stairs which faced the front door, though from his vantage point he couldn’t see anything.
“Hey Mom, glad you’re home. Hope you didn’t work yourself too hard. I’m heading to bed, I’m a little tired. See you at breakfast and I love you,” he called down the stairs. “Oh, also there’s pizza in the fridge, it shouldn’t take long in the oven.”
Brenda’s head appeared looking up at him, “Thanks sweetie, and yeah, it was a busy day. Make sure you aren’t tiring yourself out either, though I guess we can talk about that stuff in the morning. Night sweetie and I love you too.”
John headed into his room with a smile and laid on his bed, unequipping his clothing before drifting off to sleep with ease.
