Chapter 3 by Jm21 Jm21

What's next?

Sucker For Love

“Come on,” I say to myself, as I pace around my apartment, head down. “That damn book should’ve showed up yesterday. I’ve already gotten scammed out of too much money, I can’t lose this one. Where the fu-” My ranting gets cut off by the sound of shuffling outside and a knock on the door. My head perks up at the sound and I hurry over to the door.

I’ve been trying to find a legitimate summoning book for years; after I saw the most gorgeous eldritch woman in one of my dreams, I haven’t been able to get her out of my head. As soon as I saw her, I knew I needed to meet her- to touch her. But the high amount of Amazon, Etsy, and Ebay scammers and low amount of actual summoning books got in the way of that. This book is my last chance to find her- at least for a while. I’ve gone over every listing I’ve found and I don’t have the money to just throw it away at another scam. This book has to be legit.

I throw the door open and look down, only to see three different-colored books- one pink, one yellow, and one blue- none of which that look like the one I ordered. And I got scammed again, didn’t I? Regardless, I pick up the three books and bring them into my apartment, closing the door behind me.

I sigh as I put the books on my desk in front of my, trying to figure out what to do about them and the money I couldn’t afford to lose. What do I do? I didn’t have that money to just blow through for nothing. Fuck. Maybe I should just ask for a refund. Scammers aren’t usually the most giving or generous, but that’s the only chance I have.

I open my laptop and open up Amazon. Come on, come on. When I go through my order history to try and **** a refund, it’s gone. Seriously? They set up that obscure of a listing just to jerk someone out of some money? Bullshit.

God, what am I supposed to do with these things? I look over to the books resting on my desk. They almost look like childrens’ diaries, with cutesy, sometimes vaguely eldritch designs on all of the covers. I stare angrily down at the covers, questioning whether or not I was just scammed with dollar store journals.

After a moment, I decide that I should probably at least look inside of the books. Maybe they at least wrote something in them- even if it’s just calling whoever thought they could buy an eldritch summoner on Amazon a moron. I’ve earned it at this point. The question is, which one first?

Which book do I open?
