Chapter 6 by Relator10 Relator10

What's next?

Meeting the client (Sophie’s POV)

Once the company was aware of the demise of the Miller an executor agent was sent to those mentioned in the will as part of our duty as executor of the will of the Miller.
Because the will also contains a resettlement clause I was assigned to the case. All I had for info was a file with his name, present whereabouts, and the resettlement location. My handler also informed me that the funeral clause mentioned a discrete funeral. So I knew if there were any questions everything will be handled by the company. My job was to get him to the resettlement location and get him started in his new life. Others of the company will make sure everything is taken care of by the time we arrive at the resettlement location.

Some have in the past tried to infringe on the sanctity of our operations but learned to their detriment that we are more than just a law firm that mainly acts as an executor of wills. To that end all resettlement agents are trained martial artist rogues who can also act as bodyguards.
Because to be honest an average person will rarely contain a resettlement clause. They are however prolific in two cases those of high profile spot-lighted persons or those who operate in the shadow also euphemistically called DAs or deniable assets.
Actually it's kind of funny when you think about it that they in fact have a kind of symbiotic relationship.
Because the high-profiles are in the spotlight every action they take is also spot-lighted so they need someone who can act without drawing attention, on the other hand DAs need people that require their services to sustain their way of life. So an ecosystem evolved where all can thrive.
The spotlighted ones have safety plans the others have contingency plans.

All emotions put aside I personally hope for the latter because I rolled in this line of work because of rumours on the Grid of a safe-house for DAs known as Haven where they could safely lay low until they are ready to go back to the game.
So because you can’t just start a DAs safe-house out of the blue I got into this line of work so that at least I can assure that their close-ones get to safety if something happens.
Plus I usually get some sweet rides to drive to transport the beneficiaries to their destinations.

So let's see what wheels they got me as I swing my duffel bag over my shoulder.

What is waiting outside?
