Petting Zoo Time

“Look at all the Quanbi!” Starfire exclaims as she hugs a bundle of Quanbi to her chest. The rabbit-like creatures with six legs, striped fur, and a segmented tail only nuzzled Starfire back as they loved her embrace. Starfire was kneeling on the soft ground with no concern for the little claws the Quanbi had.

“They are so cute,” Aelita said as a couple of Nanats climbed her shoulders and rubbed against her belly. Nanats were a species of feline creatures with four eyes and fur covered tendrils that sprouted from their neck. Aelita lightly petted one and it licked her hand with its forked tongues.

You smiled as the loves of your life enjoyed the surprisingly large petting zoo and education center. There were species from all sorts of planets throughout the alpha and beta quadrants. You were in the generally friendly area; due to some of the specimens being potentially hostile or otherwise dangerous to some of the visitors. You had made sure to stop by the little station by the entrance to make sure that Aelita and Starfire wouldn’t have any bad reactions (emotionally, physiologically, etc) and they had been cleared.

You finished feeding the friendly sehlat while avoiding its 6-inch fangs and started walking back towards your wives with species specific food canisters tucked into your arms. The sehlat whined a bit and licked your hand for more but you only patted his head and pushed his head so he could spot the vulcan child that had been approaching. The animal that was famous for the fact that Spock owned one quickly abandoned you and padded towards the kid.

“Having fun?” You ask as you hand Aelita the container marked for Nanats. She opened the container and giggled in surprise as several more Nanat suddenly gathered around her and tried going for the treats.

“There’s plenty for everyone,” Aelita laughed as a Nanat used its tendrils to snatch a treat from her fingers and quickly ate it. Aelita poured the food bits into her gloved hands and the next second a tangle of tendrils were picking out the Nanats’ favorite bits of food.

“They are so affectionate…,” Aelita replied to you before wincing. “And it seems the kids agree.” A Nanat nuzzled her belly right where Aelita started rubbing though you weren’t sure if it was due to the scent of food in the hand or because it felt where the kick was.

“I’ve noticed that our little ones have been doing the kick much recently,” Starfire said as she sat down next to you with the Quanbis hanging from her arms. “They will be strong little bumgorfs.”

“Just like the one or more you’re growing,” Aelita agreed, smiling at Starfire as she gently pushed away the Nanats that started getting pushy. You silently handed Starfire the container of food specifically for Quanbi and she easily opened it with one hand. The Quanbi tried squirming out of Starfire’s grasp but they were no match for Starfire’s grasp and she gently poured food into their gaping maws. Turns out Quanbi had mouths that stretched to twice their closed size.

“Do you think Pixel and Glembor will become the jealous if we bring one of these adorable creatures home?” Starfire asked as a Quanbi licked her chin. Imagining how Pixel would react especially with how she reacted after Starfire hatched Glembor, you gulped. You also just realized that you haven’t thought about Glembor the Umbreon for a while. You knew he had been brought back to your house after you crashed into that Trash World but you haven’t really crossed paths with him much.

“I’m sure she’ll get over it,” Aelita said as she held up one of the Quanbi that crawled over your lap to get to Aelita. Aelita’s reaction was to coo and start making kissy faces much to your surprise. “You want to cuddle with Auntie Aelita huh? Yes you do, yes you do. Want to come home with us?”

“The animals are not to be taken out of their designated section,” reminded a bored looking attendant who was refilling the food dispenser. Aelita gave them a flat expression before going back to petting the rabbit-like animal.

You went to pet one of the Nanats when something glowing caught your eye. “Is that a koala?” You ask, seeing a glowing blue koala sitting on the ground and seeming to smile at you. You weren’t really concerned with the fact it was blue or glowing since some animals in the galaxy were weird like that but it was the intelligence in its eyes that concerned you.

“Can we help you?” You ask it, testing the waters on if it's a visitor of the petting zoo instead of one of the animals. It opened its mouth and…
