Pay his neighbor a visit

Jason decided to visit his neighbor, Lucy, next. He and Lucy had been best friends since middle school, since she had moved into the neighborhood, and he had a but of a crush on her but of course never acted on it because he thought she was too good for him.

He knocked on her door, and she answered with a smile, as she always did.

"Jason!" she said. "Hi!"

"Hey," Jason said, hiding the remote behind his back. "Can I come in?"

"Sure," Lucy said. "There's something I wanna tell you."

They sat on the living room couch, with Lucy having a nervous look on her face.

"Okay," Lucy said. "Here goes. Jason, I love you."

Jason snickered, thinking it was a joke, then he saw the look on Lucy's face.

"Oh my God, you're serious," Jason said.

"Did you think I'd joke about that?!" Lucy demanded. "Look, just...forget I said anything. You can go now. I understand if you never want to see me again."

"Wait, Lucy," Jason said. "When did this all start?"

"In middle school," she said. "You were the only boy who I talked to, the only one I felt comfortable being around because it felt like we could just be chill with each other, you know?"

"But weren't you dating that Derrick guy?"

"I was," Lucy said. "We broke up last month."

Jason was surprised at this. He was going to use the remote on Lucy, but now that he knew how she felt about him...

"Um, Jason? You're starting at--"

He leaned over and kissed Lucy on the lips. Lucy was taken aback, but soon returned the kiss.

"Does that mean we can go out?" Lucy asked when they broke the kiss.

"Of course," Jason said. "I love you too, Lucy."

They kissed again, but then Lucy pushed off him.

"Jason?" she asked. "What's that?"

Shit. The remote was on the floor, and Lucy had seen it.
