As you had just left the shops and carparks, you were crossing a park towards the motel when a bunch of 6 guys who looked to be either in their late teens or early adulthood approached your group, and they were focused.

Considering the town was not known for crime, and there were easier targets about, you realized they had a reason to seek your step family out, and things might get rough.

The group spread out a bit, and you knew it was so they could better fight.

From the glaring at Zack, the reason for his anger was clear.

Before either side could make things worse, you step in front of Zack, and tell the guy “Stand down. If he’s guilty of the worst, and I hope for the kid’s sake he isn’t, he will be punished in prison, and I don’t just mean the official sentence. If you attack us the case gets more complicated and the cops will have to spend time and effort keeping them safe. They would also have to officially come after you, even if they do it half heartedly. Kill him and all of you will be put away for ****. Let lifers do it if he’s found guilty.”

The guy snorted “Are you going to protect him? Or the thieving bitch?”

“I don’t want to, but I can’t let you just kill them. If you want to make sure that justice is done, make sure we don’t leave town. Cops have taken the cars. Right now all we have is what we have on us.”

Calling back over your shoulder you say “Stay in your rooms tonight. If you leave you might have a few very painful accidents. In the morning you are to have breakfast and then stay in your rooms until the cops come to talk with us.”

Addressing the spokesman again you add, “This family has been destroyed. Don’t let it destroy yours by having you locked up from your anger.”

While you were saying this you moved your remaining stat points. One each went into STR, DEX and AGI
