No promises

"I... I don't know Xander." Buffy really did not want to have that conversation with her mother. Normal conversations about dancing could be uncomfortable. Depending on whether or not her mom decided to add a 'humorous' anecdote from her career as a dancer.

"Please. Pretty please." Xander pleaded with big eyes.

"I... maybe... if I remember to ask her when she gets home." Buffy wasnt going to lock herself into anything. She'd just 'forget' to ask her mother. Problem solved. "You'd owe me one for asking, y'know."

"Sure. Sure." Xander nodded his head.

"I'm not promising anything. Mom might not know. Or might not want to tell me." Buffy hedged his chances.

"If you explained the situation the right way I'm sure she'd be happy to help out." Xander gave her a grin, "C'mon, Buff, your mom loves me."

Buffy nearly tripped when she heard Xander speak and spared a quick glance. To her eye he seemed completely oblivious to her nearly face planting. Which was good. She didnt want to explain why she was almost falling on her face. She didnt want to explain to Xander that he was all too right about her mother, that Joyce Summers was in love with Xander Harris. And that.... That was a conversation she was not having.

Moving the topic along and to safer areas Buffy prompted Xander, "Any other dance moves you want to see?"

Xander considered for a minute as they walked along. Buffy enjoyed the silence and tried to keep her mind off of the fact that her mom had the hots for her best male friend and would jump at the chance to give him a lap dance.

"You know anything about belly dancing?" Xander asked.

Buffy shook her head. "No. Can't say I do. But I'm guessing you'd like to see it. Which TV show made an impression on you this time?"

"I Dream of Jeannie." Xander answered quickly with a fond smile. "Barbara Eden and that genie outfit...."

"I didn't promise anything about costumes." Buffy pointed out, cutting off Xander, not letting him press her about wearing a goofy outfit while she gave him a lap dance.

"I didn't say anything." Xander said defensively.

"You were thinking it." Buffy gave him a mock glare.

"Maybe." Xander looked away.

"That's what I thought."

"I can't help it. It's objectively cool."

Buffy grumbled but did have to admit that Belly dancing was objectively cool. But she wasn't going to tell Xander that.

"Does your Mom know?" Xander asked.

"Ugh." Buffy slumped her shoulders. "I'll add it to the list of things to ask her. But I make no promises. "

She would studiously not mention Xander wanting to see spinning tassles and belly dancing. Because shortly there after Buffy knew her love struck mother would start training to belly dance for Xander while spinning tassles. Anything to make Xander look at her.

Xander suddenly giggled. Buffy looked up at him and followed his eyes. The only thing to see was that they were approaching her street.

"What?" She asked.

"Nearly there. The time of the lap dance approaches." Xander explained.

"God, you are weird." Buffy shook her head.
