Chapter 9 by HiBeGi HiBeGi

Do you enjoy your day off? Try to find the spy? Does something else happen?

Nebula Decides to Continue Her Investigations

As your impromptu group of five left the principals off and entered the hallway, you could watch as it began to fill with students of all grades, their faces expressing either excitement, confusion, or a mixture of the two emotions. You couldn't blame them, honestly. Completely out of the blue, school had been cancelled, and you were all given a three-day week-end. Most of them probably didn't care too much as to why; as far as they were concerned, it could be for any godforsaken reason. But you were sure to hear rumors being spread around like wildfire when you all came back the following week. You've had to keep a lot of things secret, and now having the truth behind all of this was going to be another pain in your life, especially with how many people this secret affected. But hey, at least you weren't alone in it.

You glanced toward the four girls walking beside you and began to read their faces. Chris had a smile on hers, one that grew larger when she noticed that you were looking at her; Karishma had this look of indifference on her face as if she wasn't concerned with what she had learned today, which was either due to a mixture of ignorance and arrogance or it was a mask to shield her fears; Nebula had this wide, mischievous grin on her, one that made you want absolutely no part of whatever was making her smile, and there was Zoe, who had probably the most reasonable expression among all of you, being the only one who actually looked worried.

Honestly, you'd probably be in the same boat as Zoe; someone out there spying on you and having all your private information listed down, having managed to collect even the most impossible of facts to be known, and all for the sake of writing erotica wasn't only pure insanity but also damn scary. How long have they been spying on you? What depraved stories have they written? And how many of them involve you, Chris, and Lex? Really pressing questions, but the one on your mind the most was, just how was that spy not dead already? There was a reason you weren't worried, and that's because, at this moment, there were thirteen students and two whole ass organizations that would be the last people on this planet you'd ever want to piss off. Knowing that was more than enough to calm your worries. If whoever that pervert was tried to cause any real trouble, then they'd be obliterated faster than you could bust a nut....No wait!

"Hey, you have any plans for the weekend?" Chris suddenly asked, snapping you out of your thoughts.

"Oh, uhm.." She really caught you off-guard. What did you want to do with your new-found free time? Oh, wait, you got it! "Maybe I can go out to eat with Gabriel; he's been meaning to take me and Jeremy out to this Portuguese restaurant that recently opened." You answered. You've never had Portuguese food before, nor have you ever really thought about it, so you aren't really sure what to expect.

"Oh." Christ blurted out, her smile twitching over so slightly, as if she were forcing it. Was she dissatisfied with your answer? You see, what could be wrong with it? In fact, you thought it was a pretty damn good response.

"I know what I'm going to do!" Nebula shouted, her face giddy with excitement.

Chris's smile shifted into a frown. "No one asked." She huffed. Perhaps that was a bit harsh, but you were with Chris on this one; you really didn't want to know what made Nebula so happy.

"I do." Zoe meekly retorted, which got her glare from the tomboy. The weirdo let out a whimper, averting her eyes to the ground.

Not having really needed the permission to speak up, Nebula began to detail her plans. "With the new information that we have available, I've got a number one suspect I need to confront!" She announced with all the vigor of a church preacher.

The four of you stared at Nebula, giving her an annoyed look. Please, anything but more of this. Wasn't your embarrassing confrontation more than enough for her? "Just drop it already. You aren't a detective, and Ms. Pershing wants to keep things on the down low." You let your left wrist go limp, dangling it back and forth to spell out your point.

"Oh, but that's just what she wants. I'm not going to play into her hands!" The conspiracy theorist responded. Your eye twitched; she was still going on about Ms. Pershing being evil. "That's why I'm going to find the spy!" She declared. "And it's pretty obvious who it is." Nebula gave you a wink.

...Is it now? You raised an eyebrow at Nebula, much to her frustration. "You mean Joyce, right?" Chris asked, causing both you and Nebula to turn your heads in her direction. "She is a literal spy, after all." She clarified upon seeing surprise on both your and Nebula's faces.

You quickly grabbed Chris's wrist and pulled her in close to you, a blush spreading across her face as a result. You brought your index finger up to your clenched teeth in an attempt to shush her. You already had people glancing at your group due to how loud you were being; you really didn't want Joyce's secret to get exposed because people were listening in on your group's ramblings. Not only that, but Joyce would never do something like that. It's a bit rude of you think of, but she's practically E.N.F.'s dog; she's sworn to secrecy and works as hard as she does because she dreams of saving the world and being the hero that'll match up with her parents legacy.

"Nah, not her." Nebula answered before smirking at you with this knowing smile. "But it is someone else with a big secret."

You thought of it for a bit, a certain group immediately came to your mind, even if it wasn't very likely. "The assassins?" You responded, bringing you voice down into the lowest whisper you could muster, leaning in close to Nebula so that only she could hear you.

Though it seemed that your efforts were in vain, as apparently Zoe was able to pick up what you had said. "Assassin?!" Zoe exclaimed in shock, causing some of the other students in the crowded hallways to look in your direction, much to your horror.

Nebula rolled her eyes before blowing a strand of hair out of her face. "Those guys are barely hiding." She remarked. She wasn't wrong exactly; they hid the fact that they were assassins by doing the bare minimum of not going around and telling people that they killed people for a living. You suppose you could appreciate that, but unlike Joyce, they didn't bother hiding just how much stronger they were compared to everyone else. You've seen one of them jump nine meters into the air just to spike a ball during gym, and nobody questioned that shit when they saw it.

"Hold on, I'm not just going to let you guys gloss over the fact that there's an assassin going to school here." Karishma butted it, being the only one besides you that was smart enough to also whisper.

"Ten actually." Nebula corrected, holding up her hands and spreading out all her digits.

"Ten!!!" Chris screeched in horror. You gave your best friend a look that was mixed with annoyance and desperation. Maybe it was a good thing that you had been the one holding onto all these secrets so far. Perhaps it should have stayed that way. "How can there be ten of them hiding at our school?" Chris questioned.

"Yeah, I wonder just who they could be." You dryly commented. It's not like there were ten students who randomly started attending this school a couple of months ago, and said group totally didn't stand out for how they dressed, acted, or just how athletically gifted they were. Ten individuals that people rarely saw outside of school. Nope, totally nobody like that.

The three girls, who weren't in the know-how, looked as if they were in deep thought, like they actually needed to contemplate who. "Is it...Han and his friends?" Zoe answered with a hand cupped over her chin, though her answer lacked any confidence in it, as if she were unsure of whether she was correct. Chris and Karishma gave Zoe weirded-out looks, causing the weirdo to meekly slouch in an attempt to hide herself.

You looked in between Chris, Zoe, and Karishma with a bewildered expression on your face. "Yes! How the hell is that not obvious?" You exclaimed, holding your voice just low enough that it could pass off as just casual talking.

Karishma raised an eyebrow at you. "You mean to tell me that the femboy kill people? How does he do that? He sleep with rich old dudes and stabs them in the back when they least expect it?" She mockingly began to detail. Despite Karishma's attempt at a joke, you could only stare blankly at your group as your mind began to flood with visceral images. Each member of the Tranquility of the Extinct was a killer and was quite brutal in how they accomplished their tasks, but Oskar was on a whole different level with how he tore his victim apart with his bare hands. You could practically hear evil German laughter reverberating through your brain as that damn sinister smile began to take picture in your mind. His forte for brutality surpassed even the literal serial killer on the team... Though, now that you think about it, if anyone were to know everything about everyone and use that to create stories about your life, then he'd probably be the one. That damn time-seeing bastard was obsessed with you, despising you with the fury of a million suns. You couldn't begin to wrap your head around why, no matter how many times he'd ramble on about it, his disdain stemming from something about you having a weird existence, whatever the hell that meant. Perhaps you should confront him about this at some point?

"What about Alena? Is that who you want to investigate?" Zoe asked after thinking about another possible candidate. "She's pretty scary." She commented, peering over her shoulder to make sure Alena wasn't in the area to hear her talking about her.

"More like a clown." You muttered upon hearing the edgelord's name mentioned.

"Yeah, Alena's always wearing that mask. Maybe she's hiding her identity? Chris gossiped, and Karishma nodded her head in agreement. You were kind of surprised at how fast these three recovered from finding out this school had a few killers walking around it. Guess its a good thing to not be too fazed by the insanity that this town attracts.

Nebula snorted. "Please, that poser is just covering up some pretty nasty looking scars on her face and hands." She responded with an eyeroll. You were surprised by the sudden hostility that Nebula was showing. You could have sworn that Nebula really like Alena. Guess something changed?

...On another note, Alena's face was scarred? Huh? Wonder how that looks? You bet it's probably really cute-looking and has a sexy charm to it. You slowly turned your head away from the group, placing a hand over your mouth to hide the drool seeping out of the sides of your mouth as you began to contemplate how Alena's scar could look.

You whipped drool off your mouth with your sleeve and turned to your group once more. You could see Chris looking at Nebula with a concerned look on her face. "Oh..." She muttered, almost ashamed to have brought Alena's face into the discussion.

"Anyways, enough about her. Lets get to the truth." Nebula rallied, leaning in really close to you while wiggling her eyebrows.

"Wait, are you accusing me of something?" You asked defensively. You had a few secrets, but you weren't going to let Nebula squeeze them out of you. Despite that, your heart began to pound in fear as Nebula's eye met your own. Adrenaline surged through your body as anxiety set in.

Nebula leaned back from you. "Uh, no-"

"Okay, fine, I'll admit it, I think my older sister is shitty cook, I have a fear of the sun, and I made out with Zacharie in school's parking lot last week!" You admitted giving into the nonexistent pressure.

Nebula gave you a bewildered look. "I wasn't referring to you specifically..." She cautiously replied, as if she didn't want to make you blurt out a hundred secrets you were holding. "Why the sun?" She asked in complete and utter confusion, which was alarming since if Nebula was questioning it, then it truly must've been an insane thing to say.

"uhhhh, I..." You tried to explain, but couldn't find the words to justify yourself. Especially not with other three pair of eyes on you. Kirshima was snickering like no tomorrow. Zoe looked completely out of it, drooling from the mouth with lustful daze in eyes as she began imagine things. And then there was Chris, who was beyond furious.

"YOU DID WHAT?!" She screeched in rage upon hearing that you had been tongue fighting with the Frenchman. Chris began to stomp toward you, backing you up into the lockers behind you. You let out an audible gulp and averted you eyes away from the raging fury in Chris's. She was pretty pissed off at you for whatever reason, you feel like if you tried explaining yourself that you'd end up in trouble either way. You need a diversion.

"Zoe, assist me here!" You called out toward the weirdo, knowing that, among the people around you, she was your only hope. Karshima was reveling in this moment, and Nebula looked a tad bit interested in the drama. You had to rely on the girl you used to bully for help—quite the turn-about.

Zoe snapped out of her daze upon hearing you call out to her. "Huh, is it my turn to tell a secret?" Zoe asked, confused about what was going on now.

"No, that's not what-" Nebula tried to explain but wouldn't get the chance as Zoe began to tell her own secret.

"Sometimes, during a full moon, I'll turn into a cuddly warebunny." Zoe admitted. That was a pretty good distraction away from you because even you were perplexed by what she said. Three of the four of you stared down at Zoe with furrowed brows, not sure if this was some sort of joke she was attempting to tell.

"That's not—everyone already knows that, Zoe..." Nebula pinched the bridge of her nose in frustration, beginning to get really annoyed at you guys for getting off topic from her original goal.

"Who's we?!" A collective shout came from the three of you. That most certainly wasn't common knowledge.

Nebula let out a loud sigh. "Seriously, Sam, take this seriously. Our futures could-" She attempted to urge.

"I like small penises." Karishma commented with a shrug, figuring since if everyone else was sharing secrets that she might as well join in.

Nebula slapped the sides of her own face before dragging her hands down and pulling the skin of her face downward for a brief movement. "I did not—based!—ask you to say anything!"

Chris looked around in confusion, her fury over not being your first kiss having died down with all the confusion going on. "My turn?" She asked, looking in Nebula's direction while pointing to herself.

"No!" Nebula shouted, rapidly waving her arms to stop Chris from saying anything. The conspiracy theorist then took a step forward to close the distance between you and her. "Come on, Sam, think about it. Someone with a big secret. Maybe one of thirteen special students in this school, hm?" Nebula hinted, narrowing her eyes at you in hopes that you you'd finally figure out what she meant.

Zoe, Chris, and Karishma once again fell into confusion upon hearing the mention of thirteen students. While they were confused, you knew what Nebula meant, and your head perking up in realization. "Oh! Right, lets see, we've already covered Joyce and the ToE, so that leaves..." You began to muse out loud as you recalled eleven of the thirteen students. "Then there's Hateya, but you're probably not talking about her." Hateya was freakishly smart, beyond your possible comprehension, but it's not like people didn't know that already. "So, that leaves us with..." You began to think of the last of the thirteen, causing Nebula to bounce up and down in excitement as she awaited you to say the name of the last person. Though that moment would never come as you started drawing blanks, You knew who this last person was, but at this moment you were drawing blanks; it was as if there was a thick static forming in your brain, preventing you from remembering who this last person was. It was as if they were so uninteresting that you completely forgot about them.

As your face slowly became more and more scrunched up in confusion as you desperately tried to recall that last person, Nebula's excitement would damage alongside it, being replaced with the most annoyed frown you've ever seen in your life. The conspiracy theorist slowly backs away from you, her eyes becoming dull in disappointment. "You know what? I'll just do it myself." She stated before suddenly sprinting off at full speed, her psychotic laughter filling the air as she sped off.

Your now group of four watched as Nebula darted off into the horizon, watching as she plowed through anyone who stood in her path, which is quite a few people given how crowded the hall is. "Sh-...should we stop her?" Chris asked, slowly lifting her hand up to point at the rapidly disappearing Nebula.

"I guess." You muttered before giving chase, causing the other three girls to follow you. It wasn't difficult to follow her despite her having already put a lot of distance between you, mostly because all you had to do was follow her path of destruction and that annoying laughter she was emitting. Honestly, you were pretty damn annoyed that you were chasing this chick again today, and in such a short succession as well.

Eventually Nebula came back into view as you continued your chase, people in the hallway moving out of the way, not wanting to get caught in the crossfire of whatever this was. As you approached the end of the hall, you could hear the familiar ranting of a certain control freak by the name of Crystal. You didn't pick up the full version of her rant, but from what you heard, she was essentially raving on and on about how it was an outrage that school's getting briefly cancelled and how she'll talk with Ms. Pershing to amend this mistake—something along those lines. Whatever the case, her attention soon turned toward Nebula as she sprinted by at full speed.

"Nebula!!! What have I told you about running in the halls?! Haven't you caused enough trouble today already?!" Crystal berated, speed walking in an attempt to keep up with Nebula while trying to avoid breaking school's rules at the same time. But Nebula simply ignored her, focusing her attention entirely on her target, whoever that may be. Your group of four sped by Crystal, which caused her to briefly turn her attention toward you. You heard her shout something at you, but you zoned her out, not wanting to deal with her in the slightest.

Your chase had nearly brought you to the main entrance of the school, where a majority of students exited the building from. You could spot a few familiar faces among the crowd, such as Dana, Amy, Tiffany, and Upsilon. Most of the students had cleared a path for Nebula and your group, some watching on in intrigue of what was going on; the exception to this was Upsilon, who was still walking in the center of the hallway, oblivious to what was going on behind her due to her blasting music into her ears with her wireless earbuds. The normal girl bobbed her head up and down to the beat of the song, humming it quietly as she moved forward before stopping in place when she noticed people in front of her starting to move quickly to the side. Pulling out one of her earbuds, Upsilon heard the psychotic laughter of Nebula behind her and turned around to furrow her brows at the conspiracy theorist. Not wanting to be in her way, Upsilon took a small step to the side to avoid Nebula smashing into her at full ****.

Nebula had other plans, though. She suddenly sprang into the air with an excited grin stretched across her face, as if she were a predator that had finally cornered her prey. Upsilon let out a small quack in confusion as she watched Nebula soar through the air. "Show me your cameras!!!!!" Nebula shouted as she fell down upon Upsilon. The normal girl's eyes dilated in fear before she let out a shrill screaming that was cut short by Nebula landing on her face crotch first, causing Upsilon to topple over. The two girls crashed into the tile floor before engaging in a mock wrestling match, with Upsilon desperately trying to escape Nebula's grasp, but it would seem that no matter what she tried to do, the conspiracy theorist would always take hold of her, no matter the position they found themselves in. "GIVE ME YOUR SKIN!!!! Man, your heavy."

The people in the hallways looked on in confusion as Upsilon desperately fought for her life, your group stopping your tracks to watch this go down. "Upsilon was her target?" Chris muttered in confusion, not being sure what was so special about her that caused her to be singled out by Nebula. But to you, it made sense; she was a robot after all. Guess it's pretty embarrassing that you forgot about that, but honestly, given who you were talking about, you shouldn't be too worried. There wasn't anything particular notable about Upsilon besides that, so you often forgot about that cardboard cutout unless she was in the same room as you.

Crystal soon caught up as well, taking her place beside your group. She watched on in perplexity as Upsilon and Nebula wrestled, not sure if she should intervene or not. At least thirty seconds passed before Upsilon eventually managed to escape by sacrificing her pink cardigan sweater, shrugging it off her arms after Nebula had taken ahold of it to keep Upsilon in her grasps. You're surprised at just how long it took Upsilon to escape this or even the fact that she was struggling against Nebula in the first place, though you suppose she was holding back to keep her secret safe.

Upsilon quickly scooted herself away, backing herself into the lockers, wanting to put as much distance between Nebula and her as possible. "Stay the hell away from me." The robot girl shouted in fear, pointing a shaking finger in Neubla's direction. Nebula simply chuckled in response before tossing the sweater over her shoulder, having no use for it.

Honestly, you were kind of surprised that Nebula knew that Upsilon was a robot in the first place, since that meant someone would have to write about her. "Who the hell would write erotica about Upsilon?" You murmured in disgust. Fucking a piece of paper would probably be more entertaining than that, honestly.

The fear on Upsilon's face vanished for a moment as she turned her head in your direction, her brows scrunched up in anger. "What did you just say?" She asked, her voice dripping with pure repulsion.

Nebula, noticing Upsilon's guard was down, used this opportunity to advance upon her, crawling toward the robot girl at an inhuman speed. Upsilon leaned her head back to avoid Nebula slamming her face against her. "I! KNOW! WHAT! YOU! ARRRRRRRRREEEEE!!!" She announced, her voice becoming this almost guttural screech.

Upsilon's face shifted away from fear to confusion before soon dropping into a more stern expression. Upsilon's pissed-off eyes locked with Nebula's excited eyes, the robot girls hands balling up into fists.

How does Upsilon react to this?
