Meeting with Captain Janeway
“I do apologize about your welcome, but you did drop in unannounced,” Captain Janeway said a bit later once everything calmed down. She sat down at the head of the conference table with a mug of coffee in her hand. Tuvok was sitting on her right side while Chakotay was on her left. You observed that they had slightly pinched brows and tired eyes.
“I understand, best to be prepared and all that,” you reply a bit more casually than some would think appropriate. You weren’t sitting exactly opposite from Janeway, Aelita was taking that seat with Starfire on her other side. Mariner was on your left while T’Lyn was sitting next to Starfire.
Your fellow Risa visitors all introduced themselves until it was your turn, “I’m James Gardner, former ensign of Starfleet, multiverse traveler, minor prince of Sarasaland, and I guess an accidental time traveler.” The Voyager crew straightened up and looked concerned; you had been the only one to acknowledge that your group were likely time travelers.
“You recognized our crew. Does the Temporal Prime Directive apply?” Captain Janeway asked grimly.
“It kinda depends on what year you think it is?” You shrug.
“2373 and how would that change your answer?” Janeway asked seriously. You looked at Mariner, knowing that she wouldn't be as cautious with the Temporal Prime Directive.
“Well, if you had said the year was 2381 then we could say whatever and we would be on one of the…well I really can’t tell you since we’re in the past,” you answer. You wince as Mariner jabs your side.
“Hey man, don’t think I don’t know that voice,” Mariner glared at you a bit.
“Hey, when would I get another chance to tease them with future knowledge, plus we don’t even really know if we are on the right timeline or alternate universe. The Koala could’ve sent us anywhere,” you defended yourself. You then pause and reach into your pocket for your phone, “Actually, let me check.” Quickly opening the relevant app, you verified that you were in the correct universe. You frown as a notification popped up about a new note being created, reading it, your frown disappeared.
“What kind of a codeword is ‘bootstrap’?” Mariner asked. You looked over and saw her over your shoulder. You started to respond but she gave you an unimpressed look. She knew you were initially going to make something up.
“It kinda involves the time travel issue, I’ll tell you about it later,” you quickly explain. “Just stop with that look, I remember what you did to those Bolians.”
“Fine but I’m holding ya to that,” Mariner relented and you were able to finish checking your phone.
“Anyways, we’re still in universe 4552981 Timeline AC.” You looked at Captain Janeway. “I can’t really tell you much about the whole timeline thing, the multiverse thing on the other hand might give me a loophole on information, kinda.”
“In what way?” Tuvok asked. You gave a quick explanation about possible events that the Voyager can complete or avoid without affecting the timeline based on what happened in other universes.
“I got an archive of events from my people’s tourism board for just this situation,” you grinned. “Though it might not be too accurate since my people have been messing around with this universe for a while and I’m not sure how much they messed with the Delta Quadrant. You could help some people here and there that could use it and help the crew as well.”
“We will have to take it into consideration,” Captain Janeway replied before standing up. “In the meantime, Lieutenant Paris will escort you to sick bay while we discuss the information you shared and how we could potentially send you home.”
“As the Cosmic Koala is involved then we may not be returning home until the situation that necessitated our temporal displacement is resolved,” T’Lyn pointed out. “The situation is unusual as most reported instances of Cosmic Koala encounters involved the entity returning individuals back to life.”
“Sublieutenant, you are revealing future knowledge, this ‘Koala’ is not known to us,” Tuvok scolded the now slightly wide eyed T’Lyn. You were about to defend her when Ensign Harry Kim raised his hand.
“I’ve heard of the Cosmic Koala,” he explained to the Voyager crew’s surprise. “I thought it was just a rumor.” He paused as a bunch of emotions crossed his face. “Now that I think about it, I think I remember a koala appearing when I was sick with that near fatal flu a few months back. It was blue and said something…I don’t know.”
“Yeah, that sounds like the Cosmic Koala,” you shrug while standing up yourself and changing the subject. You figure it made sense that Harry Kim would have Koala encounters, the guy seems to die and get replaced by a copy all the time. “You mentioned the sick bay?”
“Oh, I can’t wait to meet the Doctor,” Aelita said with an eager spark in her eyes. You shared a look with Starfire.
