Looking For Friends In All The Low Places
The secret escape tunnel lets out into the sewers, and relative safety. It's a dark, disgusting, and repugnant place to end up, but it would certainly be better than being dead. Certainly the last place someone would go looking for a member of the royal family, you realize. Charting through this maze of squalor is tedious, with no easily discernable way to tell where you are or what direction you're going. After wandering and getting lost, you resolve to head in a single direction, to the best of your ability, and look for anyway to get out. You're eventually successful, seemingly finding a rampway and a door that leads up into the city.
You're relieved to see the countless stars of the cloudless, moonless night sky, taking a few minutes to clear your mind and nose of the awful stench, and to familiarize yourself with where you are. Putting eyes on the castle that you had successfully infiltrated and departed unscathed, you have a vague sense of where you are. With the castle being the rough center of the town, you're in the southwest corridor. Some of the oldest structures and facilities are here, which doesn't always mean good things. It's a rough area, a place you and your noble family would normally try to avoid. That may prove to be your advantage tonight, as this would be exactly where the kind of riff-raff you need to engage with are likely to congregate.
On a whim, you find a particularly roudy and crowded establishment, apparently entitled The Four's Kin. Though most would be asleep at this time, or approaching it, this place is still well visited, with a clientele that seems both lively and deadly at the same time. Heavy smoke permeates the environment, with many people taking great fondness of their pipes. As your vision is muddled by the cloud in the room, your vision is also at the same time made more clear, seeing how difficult your current plan is going to be, largely because you haven't planned anything beyond getting here. Who to talk to, how to ask them, what you can offer them, that's all pretty sketchy at the moment. By casual observation, there seems to be an inverse relationship between apparent capability, and apparent trustworthiness.
Who do you approach?
