What does Annita say next?
Little White Lies
Annita took a moment to compose herself. While Dana's mother didn't need to know the truth, Annita suspected she was looking for a particular answer here. If she gave it, perhaps that would go a long way in getting Dana's hand in marriage for real.
"I'm a rather new muslim who's just started veiling over these last couple months. When I first saw your daughter, I just knew she was the one for me." Annita explained and looked over to Dana. Met with a nod, she let herself relax. This was a conversation between friends... who had brought them to her mom.
"Yes mother, I met her while heading to the mosque." Dana added, now her turn to get a nod. Looking back to her mother, she took the time to reach out to Annita's hand. Grabbing hold, she felt the elderly lady give it a squeeze.
"I'm happy to hear that." her mother announced and turned her focus back to Annita. A smile now on her face, that was one landmine expertly avoided. "Annita, by any chance have you thought about fully converting to Islam?"
Annita froze once more.
"Maybe some time in the future." Annita answered and watched Dana's mother head for the kitchen. Breathing another sigh of relief, she pulled Dana along with her.
