Chapter 3 by JohnLocke4 JohnLocke4

What Happens On The Final Day?

Last Day Meet Up

Entering the school, the three teens headed down the hallways, leading them towards the cafeteria where the rest of the early morning arrivals usually congregated. They headed towards the back corner towards their usual table, and unsurprising, they already saw a blonde, bespectacled teen in the farthest seat with a phone in hand, playing a game. "Hey, Avery," Mindy sweetly called out, causing him to jump slightly before looking up with a smile.

Avery West was another rarity in Kenny's friend group; he only considered himself to have four friends, Kenny and Mindy being two of them. Admittedly, he wasn't the worst-looking guy around, but he did very little ever to show that off. He kept his sharp blue eyes hidden behind thick-framed glasses, his golden blonde hair was always cut short and never very well combed, and he had a little car to wear anything other than what he deemed most comfortable. Avery was, without a doubt, a nerd; it was a title well-earned and one he worked to keep with his activities and lack of interest in ever talking to anyone outside his tiny social circle.

"Hey, guys!" Avery waved, seeming a whole lot peppier than usual, "Last day, in a few hours, we're grabbing our diplomas and never having to step foot back in this place...God, I really thought this day would never come." He contentedly sighed,

Kenny and JJ shared a glance and snickered, "Should have expected you'd be the happiest today," Kenny joked while Mindy grabbed a seat across from Avery, tossing up her knapsack and pulling out her laptop.

Avery shrugged, "What can I say? I really am not going to miss this place. I'm excited about college, where I can learn what I want and be far away from these **** social situations," The blonde geek looked over to Mindy, "Oh, that reminds me, tonight, are we still linking up for Iloss?"

Mindy smirked, "Of course, never miss our week session, right, Ken?" Avery and Mindy glanced at Kenny, who immediately gave an eager nod. It had been going for months now that they all got on their computers every week to play this new multiplayer, fantasy role-playing game that Avery had been more than eager to host.

"Sweet, I just wish I didn't have to go to that dumb thing at my parents' restaurant tonight," Avery sighed with a slow roll of his eyes, "That's going to cut like two hours off..."

"At least your older brother Scott will be there," Kenny pointed out, causing Avery to find a small smile at the thought. "Besides, we can stay up late, we have nowhere to be tomorrow!"

"Exactly!" Mindy fully agreed,

"I wish I knew what you guys were even talking about," JJ laughed, "Games just really aren't my thing..." The jock slid down into a seat, "But seeing how hyped up you're getting, you might have to teach me this Ilos game,"

"JJ, I have time, but I don't have my whole life," Mindy teased, and the two laughed,

"I'd...be willing to show you, if you're genuinely interested, that is," Avery lightly added. JJ gave an affirming nod, though Avery wasn't exactly sure how much of a solid yes that was. Deciding not to give it much thought beyond that, Avery instead looked back to Kenny, "Hey, did you see Quinn yet today? Is she with Will?"

"Doubt it, when I left my house to get Mindy, she was still passed out with Juliet in my living room," Avery slumped slightly and nodded, "Why? Did you need her for something?"

"Yeah," Avery reached into his backpack and pulled out a book labeled, Lost and Unsolved, "It's the new one that came out, and she wanted to borrow it once I finished." He explained before tucking it back away. Quinn was possibly Avery's closest friend. At one point, she and her twin brother Will were his only friends, and that was only due to him being lucky enough to be their neighbor. While he and Will had slowly started to distance themselves during their time in high school, he and Quinn remained very close friends.

"I'm sure she'll be here soon," Kenny assured the geeky teen, "Julie is probably driving them both over as we speak."

Suddenly Kenny felt an arm wrap around his neck and a knuckled fist scuffing up his hair, "There he is! The big brain who helped get me this far!" Kenny let out a short shout, fighting out of the hold and spinning around to give a wincing half-glare at Brian White. Son of the richest family in town, Brian was a girl's dream, at least physically. Blonde hair, dreamy blue eyes, toned body; he never did have to try very hard with the ladies. His personality, however, left a lot to be desired. At one point, being nothing but a douchebag and a bully, he did his best to change his ways which Kenny had to admit, he'd really done over this senior year.

"Sup, Brian," Kenny finished rubbing his head while the blonde looked around at the others, "Avery!" The geeky teen almost jumped at the sudden exclamation at him, "Snowdrop Tavern tonight, right? You folks are hosting the big graduation bash?"

"Oh, uh, yeah, I guess you could call it that? They just wanted to do what they could to help us all celebrate. Food is basically going for cost, and they are keeping it private for just us," Avery explained, causing Brian to happily nod.

"Perfect, well tell them when you see them after school that I'm gonna give some payment courtesy of my whole family as a thanks," Brian reached into his back pocket pulling out an envelope and handing it over to the teen, "Don't...lose this and uh, don't let anyone see you have it,"

"Is this...money?" Brian gave the teen a wink, and Avery went ghostly white as he swiftly shoved the envelope into his backpack, "Great...better hope no one has any last-minute pranks to pull on me..."

"Relax, they take it, I'll just get you more. Then I'll go and get it back from whichever asshat thinks they could do that in the first place," Brian firmly stated, "No one fucks with today, won't allow it."

"Well, aren't we all so lucky?" The group turned, and Brian let out a grin as he found none other than Juliet approaching them with Quinn just a step behind. He turned to face her, fully locking onto her blue eyes for a moment before flicking down at the rest of her body. Juliet was an incredibly fit girl, the head of the cheerleading team in high school. Her pale white skin was utterly flawless, her decent medium-sized breasts tightly pressed against her top, and Brian had glanced more than enough times to know her ass was even more mouth watering. "Eyes up here, pal," Juliet snapped out,

"Sorry, they have a mind of their own, I swear," Brian warmly replied, though his charm had little effect on the girl.

"Just because you're family decided to give some money to the West's you do realize this isn't suddenly your party, right?" Juliet frowned,

"Of course, I merely wanted to show my appreciation," Brian tucked his hands into his pockets, not flinching as Juliet eyed him for a long minute,

"Right..." Juliet lightly shook her head before turning attention to Kenny and giving him a light push, "And what the hell was that this morning?! You didn't even wake us up!"

"Dad said you two were up late, I figured you'd want to sleep in a little more," Kenny explained with a laugh,

"Appreciate it, but you heading out the door woke us anyway," Quinn yawned back, her tired heterochromatic eyes almost pleasantly resting on Kenny's sight for a few seconds before she abruptly pulled them away and looked over to Avery, "Hey, Ave,"

"Oh, hey!" Avery shook out of his small, worried trance and quickly dove a hand back into his backpack, "Glad you're here, I wanted to give you this while I had the chance today." Quinn walked over, and the teen passed her the book. "It's really good."

"Seriously?! It only came out a few days ago, you're done?!" Quinn exclaimed in excited awe,

Avery shrugged, "I knew you wanted to borrow it, so I sped through it," He nonchalantly replied,

"Thanks, Ave, you're the best," Quinn bent over, wrapping her around him and giving a quick half hug.

"Morning," Kenny glanced back a smiled. In the center of the trio was Nicole Moore, and to her left was her best friend Anna Ross, and to her right was Devin Harris. A natural brunette, Nicole's hair color was hidden under a new, blood-red dye. A faded punk rock t-shirt barely held in her giant breasts, and her tone jeans were more than filled with her perfect round ass. In high school, the girl was something of an enigma; everyone liked her, everyone wanted to hang out with her, and no matter who Nicole was spending time with, they were having a good time.

Anna, on the other hand, had gone the straight and narrow all through high school, always wearing rather conservative clothing that hid her decently busty chest and perfect bubble butt, not that Kenny would admit to looking. The beautiful blonde never drank or smoked, hell, she barely went anywhere where things could get too crazy; yet Nicole always had a way of making sure she was around at nearly every part. The two were inseparable, and there was something about that much resilience in their friendship that Kenny couldn't help but respect. "Does anyone else feel weird that it's our last day?! Only a few more hours and then we won't come back here!"

"Not soon enough," Nicole muttered as the trio reached the rest of the group, "I'm just ready for this big bash tonight!"

"Yeah, Brian, thanks again for helping hook my band up to play at the Tavern tonight," Devin nodded towards the playboy who gave him a thumbs up. Devin Harris was a year older than the rest of the group. He was supposed to graduate last year, but low grades meant a repeat of senior year, and Devin decided dropping out was just a better idea altogether. With a set of curly black hair and deep, dark, brown eyes, Devin certainly had a different sense of style than the other guys in the group, fully following Nicole in a rocker, rebellious style, and unsurprisingly, the two were often tied up in a nearly constant friends-with-benefits relationship.

"Oh my God, Brian! This isn't your party!" Juliet exclaimed,

"What's wrong with a little live music and helping out a friend?" Brian glanced at Avery, "Back me up, bro."

"I'd rather stay out of it," Avery meekly replied,

Brian blew out a scoff and looked to Kenny, "Ken, come on, tell your cousin how it is,"

"No, I'd much rather watch you flail around," Kenny grinned, and a murmuring of laughter was shared.

"Let me get out of here before I end up losing this gig." Devin leaned down and gave Nicole a quick peck on the lips, or at least he tried. Nicole made sure to grab hold of him and make it last a good ten seconds longer. As he broke away, Devin chuckled, "See you later tonight," He warmly told the redhead before looking up at the others, "You guys too, hope you guys enjoy kissing this hell hole goodbye!" With that, Devin headed off, leaving through the side exit of the cafeteria.

"We are so fucking tonight..." Nicole hummed aloud,

"God, Nikki, gross!" Anna exclaimed, shoving past her friend, "Mindy, hey, can you do me a huge favor? Think you can peek at my valedictorian speech for edits? I don't want to make a fool of myself later today."

"No problem," Mindy accepted, shutting her laptop and scooting over so Anna could sit down next to her.

"Okay, it's already boring here, I'm gonna go find Gwen, later," Nicole waved,

"Uh, let me go with you, I need to check in with Gwen too," Brian called out to the redhead, "And get the hell away from this ice storm."

"Ugh, get over yourself, I'm not ruining my whole day with you," Juliet scoffed," Come on, Quinny, we need to go meet up with the rest of the cheer squad," Quinn let out a small hum of agreement, already a few pages into her body, "JJ, you should probably meet up with Will and the rest of the team,"

"Good call," JJ jumped up out of his seat. "See you guys later on," JJ and Kenny shared a quick fist bump, and the black teen couldn't help but stop behind Mindy to ruffle her hair, earning a few absent slaps in return as he ran off.

With the rest of his group now heading off to meet up with their other cliques and friends, Kenny slid into a seat next to Avery. "So...Ilos, what's our plan of attack tonight?" Avery smiled,

"Oh, I've got ideas," The blonde teen answered.

Who do we keep with?
