Konohamaru takes charge and becomes the new boss!

Upon being told that his boss would be going on a three-year training trip with one of the legendary Sannin, it became clear to Konohamaru that he had to train in order to not be left behind by his boss. Unlike him, he had to make due with Ebisu, so he would have to try extra hard.

That was why he had used his influence as the grandson of the third Hokage to get access to the Scroll of Seals and some other normally forbidden jutsus. Chiefly among them were the sealing techniques of the fourth Hokage, which the young boy had displayed a natural aptitude for.

After just two years, Konohamaru had not only become a Genin, but had completely mastered all of the Fourth Hokages jutsus. He even could now pull off the Rasengan without using clones, a trick he was sure his boss also had by now learned. He had by now made quite a name for himself throughout the village. While he was previously only respected due to his grandfather, now it was because he was rapidly proving himself in various missions. Even recently managing to accomplish an A Rank mission that turned into an S-Rank over the course of it, while personally defeating a Rogue Jonin from Kumo. That had certainly earned him some good will for the Hyuuga clan, as it was a relative from the guy that tried to kidnap Hinatas sister years ago. Even the usually cold Hanabi had been unable to hide how impressed she was over him doing that.

He, Udon and Moegi had impressed Ebisu so much, their Sensei had told them he would be signing them up for the Chunin Exam earlier than he had intended. If things worked out well, he would be able to become a Chunin before Naruto could!

He was already excited to show off towards his boss, and see all Naruto had learned over the last three years.

So his shock and disappointment was great once he tagged along in secret with him going to another bell test with Kakashi and Sakura. Naruto, despite spending over three years with one of the legendary Sannin had barely improved at all! All he could seemingly pull off was a bigger Rasengan, which he STILL needed shadow clone support to form!

As he saw how little his so-called Boss had improved over his training trip, a thought began to bear fruit in the young Genin. He should be the boss. Not only had he improved much more than Naruto had, he had done so under harder circumstances. Who could say how strong Konohamru might have been had he been trained by his grandfathers students like Naruto had?

The reason he had looked up to Naruto was in hopes of learning from him how to be a great Shinobi. And it now seemed to him, that Naruto was the one that should have been looking up to him. In his training, Konohamaru had stumbled upon certain secrets and seals, knowledge that made Naruto and his skill more easy to understand.

The older boy had the Kyuubi in him. That was why he had so much chakra. Without that, Konohamaru suspected that at the skill level Naruto was, he would likely have not even been able to become a Genin yet, much less a Hokage like his greatest ambition supposedly was.

If Konohamaru had that sort of Chakra, he would have been ten times the Ninja that Naruto was. He was sure of it. And thankfully, he would have a way of proving it. Because among the forbidden scrolls, there was a sealing technique that was devised by the first Hokage. It had taken Konohamaru months to pull it off, but he did it. He had mastered what was called the "essence transference jutsu" around a month ago.

He had initially intended to use it as a lost resort should Naruto and his training prove too much for him to safe some face via not being totally humiliated by the older boy. But now? He asked himself why he should use it to put his theory to the test?

He would challenge Naruto to a test fight to see how he fared with his far more massive Chakra reserves. If it was as Konohamaru suspected that he had become stronger than Naruto despite all of his advantages? He would place the seal upon him after his defeat.

For both the good of the village and Naruto himself. Should Konohamaru managed to defeat him, it would only show that the younger boy had much more use for all that Chakra within Naruto than his boss had. And the Essence transference jutsu would ensure that he could put it to good use.

It was a rather insidious jutsu used during the warring clan era. Once placed upon a defeated enemy, it permanently ensured that all good qualities of a Shinobi would be slowly but surely siphoned off towards the caster. The harder the target tried to train in an attempt at circumventing their decline, the more the caster of the Jutsu would sap away from them.

Courage, strength, chakra, all were able to be freely transferred.

If Konohamaru got all of that chakra, he suspected he might become the youngest Kage in history. Even managing to outperform that one Kazekage. He would be able to protect the village just as well if not better as that big tits having granny that was in charge now, that was for damn sure. Seeing her handing over the hat to him would be almost as sweet as becoming Hokage itself. Though, he would certainly keep her on as an advisor. Maybe even as a secretary. Ever since he had run into her cleavage years ago, Konohamaru would have been lying if he didn't think the Hokage was an attractive woman.

Then there was the added benefit of having Naruto be HIS underling and calling him boss that this switch in their relationship would entail. And the thought of being called boss by Naruto, was an appealing one indeed. Perhaps he could even send him back to the academy. That way, once he became Hokage, he could take Naruto on as his Genin once the older boy graduated from the Academy once more to properly teach him what it meant to be a Shinobi.

The more he thought about it, the more the idea appealed to him! As he saw Sakura and Kakashi leave after their test had concluded, Konohamaru took his chance and jumped down to challenge Naruto to a duel that would decide their relationship and battle for the position of Hokage.

Naruto, being himself fairly confident in his abilities and underestimating Konohamaru and his progress of course, agreed. He was perhaps a bit exhausted from the little training exercise with Kakashi, but he could still handle his underling, right?
