I follow the road west.

I know that the car that passed by a while ago was going east down the road. The moment I get to the guard, I look to my right to see if the car was still near. To my dispair, I can only catch a glimpse of two thin rear lights about a mile away. It's no use trying to catch up to it. Besides, going east meant going back to my old life back at the office with no windows and a promiscuous secretary.

I decide to head west. I run with the stamina I have left in me down the road and once I get to the point of jogging instead of running, a stunning revelation hits me. If I'm on the highway, I can be clearly seen by anyone, especially one with a rifle with a long-range scope attached. I try to lighten things a bit saying that the darkness of the night is an advantage because my attacker won't be able to see me. But that idea backfires. If he can't see me, I can't see him either.

A thing in my head keeps telling me that I should've went north through the forest. I would be going up and down obstacle but it would increase the chances my attacker not finding me.
