Chapter 6

Do I change paths?
Yes, and head to the forest.
Knowing that the highway is deserted of cars, I waste no time deciding where to go and I dash from one side of the highway to the other. I run across like it's my life on the line. Once I get to the opposite guardrail, that is when my blood starts racing throughout my body. This is because when I place my hands on the guardrail, I hear a sound like a person with a huge gun climbing over a guardrail. The bustling sound is clear and alerts me. This sudden sound scares the shit out of me and I start climbing the guardrail and start running towards the next forest.
I start to climb the opposite guardrail and struggle with my remaining stamina to get to the other side. The night sky blanket the area with darkness and it doens't give me any awareness of the type of ground I am running on. The ground ahead of me sure is wet, maybe from rain or a nearby source. When I finally plant both feet on the damp ground on the other side of the guardrail, a pain from my right arm coarse throughout my entire body, almost knocking the wind out of me. Nothing is able to deliver that kind of pain other than a whip or a high-velocity rifle, that which I never felt before in all my life. When I get hit, I stumble and fall flat on my back on the damp ground. I stare at the bottoms of indistinct trees as I lay there
I feel with my left arm to touch the wound, by instinct. I find that I was hit--not by a bullet which would have made a bloody wound on my right arm--but by a tranquilizer dart. The pain seems like it is throbing but with just a dart, I should be able to just feel the sting. I remove it and continue running through the forest.
Before long, I am running on the shore of a small but deep lake. The effects of the dart are starting to go in effect. My vision gets blurry and I can't seem to see exactly where I am going. I feel drowzy now, and I feel like my legs are spaghetti, sending me falling forward, face first. Then I black out, and my body stumbles toward the damp shore of the lake, with my left arm engulfed by the lake water.
Where do I wake up?
