Chapter 3 by VeryBigGuy VeryBigGuy

Catching up on sleep.

Home.

Frank arrived home, in a bizarre state that was both physically energized and mentally exhausted. The combination of being cursed and blessed by a magical animal in the span of about 5 minutes was bad for Frank's heart. He walked into his house, ignored the sounds of his sister, Kate making out with her girlfriend, Tara on the couch (failing to ignore the disdainful sounds coming form the two of them as he went by), and went past the stairs to his room.

Frank is a surprisingly laid-back, pragmatic guy. He could fit everything he needs to live his best life into a few footlockers if he tried, so when his bitchy sister demanded his larger bedroom was completely fine by him. All he asked in return was a collapsible closet he found online (I do recommend, they're pretty nice.), some new computer and audio parts, and a tea station. Plus he didn't have to climb the stairs anymore, which was fine by him. 'Joke's on them, as far as I'm concerned' he thought often.

Frank sat at his desk and began doing what he always did. He spoke to his friends, he played his games, and he did his homework before bed. Honestly, he could barely bring himself to do his homework anymore, the notorious "senioritis" had turned out to be a very real thing.

And then Frank went to bed. He was horny but the only things that came to mind were is bitchy sister, her excessively hostile girlfriend, and the flat girl from earlier so he decided to just go to sleep. This would be what Frank would later refer to as a bad idea, because he forgot to close his window, letting a certain appreciative bird fly its way into his room and roost on top of his closet, and she had a debt to pay whether he liked it or not. Especially since the last thing he thought of was how he wished for pleasant dreams.

Frank awoke with a start. Well, he thought he awoke, but really he was still dreaming, and after a moment of observation, that became pretty apparent. Frank was lying (now sitting) in what appeared to be an expansive, nebulous hallway, but while he was able to perceive he was on solid ground and looking at the floor and walls, he also was able to look through them and saw other "floors" as well, and none of them were directly aligned. The only things he couldn't see through were the doors lining the hallway. Each one of them was decorated differently from the others, some with wood, some with iron, some with chalk all over them, and adjacent to each door appeared to be a designation. They looked somewhat like door buzzers you find in front of apartment buildings sometimes, but they were marked with only one name each as well as a pair of tiny lightbulbs: Green and Red.

Some of the doors had their green light on, some had their red light on. What Frank found most concerning was that he awoke just in front of a door marked "Frank Lincoln" with the red light on. Frank, simultaneously scared of what would happen and yet sound in his deduction that he was dreaming, tried to open the door, only to find it locked. Sighing, he looked at the other doors, noting that the two adjacent to his own were his sister's door to the left, reading Kaitlyn Lincoln (which is probably why she goes by Kate) and her girlfriend, Tara McNally on the right. Directly across the hallway from Frank was a name he vaguely recognized from school but couldn't place: Ava Hughes. The bizarre spread of people seemed random until Frank recalled that the other two were the last people he thought about before bed except the cheerleader.

"Is Ava her name? I don't recall knowing her name."

It was as if he was dreaming of a non-Euclidean apartment building in which people he knew were tenants. Curious about what to do, Frank decided to...

And this is where the "YO" in CHYOA begins. Have at it if you like.
