He agrees to do her a favor

When Vicky stopped crying, she rested her head on Zack’s temple as he leaned back on the bench they were sitting on. As the blonde in his lap regained her composure, Zack’s eyes occasionally scanned the stars. Under better circumstances, he would have invited her to watch with him. Out of respect, he held off.

“Zack?” Victoria whispered.

“Yeah, Vicky?” he replied.

“Cen you take me home?” she pleaded.

“You sure you’re ready to go back to the cabin?” Zack asked.

“No, I mean HOME home. I need to be away from these people for a few days,” Vicky said as her eyes welled up again.

“If you’re sure that’s what you want, then, yes,” Zack answered.

“You can come back after you drop me off,” Vicky stated.

“I gotta get my keys from my room. You can either wait here or by my car while I get them,” he told her.

“I’ll be by the car. And Zack?” the blonde muttered.

“Yeah, Vicky?”

“Can you get my stuff? I don’t want to leave it here,” Vicky stated.

“Sure thing, Vicky,” Zack smiled as the pair began walking back to the cabin.

As Vicky stepped towards Zack’s car, he walked in to the cabin. He was thankful to learn that the game had ended not long after he and Vicky had left for their walk. Heather and Chloe greeted him as he looked around.

“Hey Zack!” Heather shouted.

“Shh!” he hushed her. “Don’t want everyone knowing we’re back.”

“How is she?” Chloe asked as Heather grimaced.

“She’ll be okay, but she wants to go home,” replied Zack.

“Thanks Hannah! It’s only been a few hours and someone already wants to leave! Seriously, why'd we invite the college people again?” Heather sighed. “Can I talk to her?”

“I don’t know. Aside from wanting to leave, I just don’t know where Vicky’s mind is at right now,” Zack admitted.

Heather took that as a “Yes!” and walked out the front door, leaving Zack and Chloe. The long-time friends stayed motionless for a moment before Chloe began speaking.

“I hope she’s okay,” the red-head stated.

“She said she only wants to go home for a day or two, so we’ll be back by the weekend. I think,” Zack informed Chloe.

“Wait? You’re leaving too?” she asked.

“She asked me to take her home. Seeing as what happened, I can’t say I blame her.”

“But that’s gonna ruin YOUR trip, Zack,” Chloe reminded him.

“Not really. I only came on this trip to spend time with Vicky. If she’s not here, then there’s no point of me being here either,” Zack countered.

Chloe absorbed that piece of information and then nodded in agreement with her best friend.

“Listen, I know the girls have their stuff all organized, but I don’t know which bag is Vicky’s. Can you get her things for me, Chloe? Please?” Zack pleaded.

After agreeing to help her best friend, Chloe disappeared into the girl’s room to find the departing Victoria’s belongings, which allowed Zack to retrieve his own, including his car keys.
