What does Hana roll?
Hana rolls a 2.
While the girls are in awe of Nora’s new outfit, Hana grabs the die and looks over the board. During the first round, she rolled the lowest in the group and now sits in last. While it is only round 2, her natural sense of competition begins bubbling up within her.
I can’t catch up to everyone else this round, but Cammy is close enough to possibly pass. Just need a 5 to tie, and a 6 to pass. Then I can catch up in round 3 or 4 depending on how everyone else is rolling. And then once I pass Cammy I can…
Hana then proceeds to start plotting out the entirety of the rest of the game. No one seems to care that she is taking so much time on this turn as the others are already occupied. Hana looks up to see that Stephanie and Morgana are trying to get embarrassing pictures of Nora in her new outfit while she is defending herself by covering herself using one of the couch pillows while going on the offensive by yelling at them. Juliette and Cammy just watch the hijinks taking place, smiling and giggling. Hana cups the dice in her hand and gives it a shake.
“Five or six. Five or six. That’s all I need.” she whispers to herself, almost as if praying.
She tosses the die out and it bounces before stopping on a pitiful 2.
“ARE YOU SERIOUS?!”
The sudden scream has interrupted the other girls’ photoshoot as they realize that Hana is continuing to play.
“Oh! Whatcha roll?!” Morgana cheekily says as she puts away her phone with the prized pictures of Nora.
“Send me some of those.” Stephanie remarks before focusing on the game.
“Don’t you dare share those with anyone outside of this group.” Nora threatens while putting the pillow back in place.
“Yeah yeah yeah, whatever.”
Hana grabs her piece from the first space on the board and moves it to the third spot.
“You’re not making much progress huh.” Morgana comments.
“I AM AWARE.”
Everyone looks to see that Hana now sits on a yellow space.
“Hey, it could be worse. You could have rolled another one.”
“...thank you for that insight.”
Hana looks at the stack of cards and sees that the top one is now yellow.
“Let's just get this round over with.” Hana groans out while pulling the card up to read.
–
“A bad draw with a bad roll,
Still more turns to gain control.
We love the color of your pretty eyes,
Time to change them with a different dye.”
–
“Dye your eyes?”
“I think it’s saying that it’ll change your eye color.”
“Kinda like how you put hot sauce in your eyes to make them red.”
“Stephanie…what the...”
“Whatever, they’re just brown, which is the common color. I don’t mind something new. Makes me unique, I guess. I Continue.” A tone of annoyance can be heard in Hana’s voice as she accepts the transformations.
Another card loses its color and is tossed into the discard pile. The girls all watch Hana as she feels her eyes get extremely watery. Her hands come up to her face to rub the water out of her eyes. Expecting just a quick transformation, Hana realizes that regardless of how much she squeezes the water out, more is still present.
“What the hell?!”
“What’s wrong?”
Hana tries to blink rapidly to clear her eyes. Her vision was blurry from all the tears falling down her face, realizing that they would not stop forming.
“Are you crying?”
“No. My eyes just got really watery all of a sudden, and it won’t stop.”
“Allergies?”
“It's okay to cry, ya know. We’re all friends here.”
“I’M NOT CRYING.”
Juliette grabs a tissue from a nearby table and heads over to Hana.
“Here, let me help.” Juliette moves Hana’s hand down and with the tissue wipes her eyes. Finally cleared of tears, Hana blinks only a few more times before her vision clears up.
“Thanks Juliette.”
Juliette is now face to face with the most remarkable set of eyes she has ever seen.
Hana’s eyes were no longer brown, but a mix of purple, blue, and pink hues. Each color transitioned into the other seamlessly. Her eyes now glimmered from the lights around the room. The reflection from them almost as if looking into a clear starry night itself.

“Oh my…they’re like stars.” Juliette whispers. Juliette was surprised by how sparkly her eyes had become.
“What? Stars? Are they bad?” Hana asks in embarrassment and confusion.
“No no, not at all. They are very beautiful. Turn. Let the others see.” Juliette commands.
Hana turns from Juliette and faces the rest of the group and looks out at all the girls.
“HOLY SHIT.” Morgana almost yells. She clambers up from her spot and gets right in front of Hana. The other girls gather around with Hana in the center.
“Whoa.”
“Amazing.”
“Wow! Unnatural, but so pretty!”
A blush creeps across Hana’s face after hearing everyone’s reactions and receiving their praises.
“Unnatural?” a confused Hana asks.
“YES! Take a look.” Stephanie pulls out a small makeup mirror and hands it to Hana.
She looks at the mirror and sees her new colored irises. She says nothing but is stunned by the beauty she finds in her own eyes. She holds the mirror at different angles, her eyes following and showing the gleam from every direction.
“Wow, what a way to score on this card effect.”
“What’s it called to have purple eyes?”
“Albinism can cause violet eyes.”
“Whoa, how do you know that Cammy?”
“From class. The one we were both in, remember?”
“Oh yeahhhhhhhhhh...” Morgana suddenly realizes.
While the girls are enamored by Hana’s new eyes, Stephanie takes this quick moment to pull up her phone.
What does Stephanie write?

Chicken out: The game
A simple transformative game of chicken
Welcome to chicken out! The game so good we spun it off unchanged!! Based on the concept of Mr_Anderson. This is a game of chicken. The players each take turns rolling a die, their game piece moves accordingly and they draw a card based on the color they land on. The cards contain a text with transformative properties. After reading the card, the player can then choose to either continue or chicken out. Easy, right?
