How can Leon break free?

Grab something to fight

Leon was **** to grab something to fight back as the female officer was approaching his neck. Then he reached his combat knife. He held his breath and stabbed the vampire on the neck with it. Though it’s not enough to kill her, the vampire released him and backed up a few steps, screaming.

“WHY!” She growled in pain.

Seizing the chance Leon rolled to his Matilda and aimed at the vampire before she recovered. With another shot everything was silent. He carefully locked the dark-room door and finally had a moment to rest.

“Just to be fair...this isn’t personal...” He looked at the pile of dust and gasped.

The combat knife on the floor was slightly damaged but could still be of use. He has 12 silver bullets left in the magazine. He didn’t know how many intelligent vampires were there in the station, like Neil, or how many more they could make. According to the female officer vampire, a victim not drained could remain a bit of their mind when they turned, which meant Lieutenant Branagh might...Damn it. He dared not think what was going to happen but keep searching.

Anyway, he needed to preserve the silver bullets for those intelligent vampires. He slipped past the vampire on the staircase and reached the second floor safely. However, the passage to the hallway was completely blocked. Also, looked like someone has blew up a hole in the shower room, but the high temperature steam from the damage pipe has prevented him from getting through. He could only hope to find more luck on the third floor now.

And he did. A spade key was lying on a desk, which could be used to unlock all the spade doors in the station. Finally some progress, he thought.

He was about to keep searching the third floor, however, the moment he entered the hallway, he saw a skinless creature climbed through the window outside, which almost freaked him out. What was that thing? He wondered. If that’s the tentacle monster that killed Elliot, then he must be more cautious.

On all the way to the west storage room he didn’t encounter any monsters, but he did find the Maiden statue, locked behind some steel fences. Someone must’ve tried to blow the fences up with a C4 explosive but lacking a detonator. More puzzles to solve now, he sighed.

Also he found a note by officer David Ford warning the survivors about some skinless, blind monsters called “Licker”. So that’s what they called that creature, huh? Through a door he went into the library and noticed a spade door on the second floor. But before he could start searching, he got a call from Marvin.

“Leon, it’s Marvin...I need you back here...ASAP. I’ve got...something to show you...It’s important.” Marvin sounded much more weaker.

“Copy that, I’ll be right there.” Leon responded through the radio before running down to the second floor to open the door.

As he expected, it brought him back to the main hall. He looked down by the railing but couldn’t find Marvin. He got bad feelings as he ran down to the bench where Marvin should have been sitting on, only to find the terminal computer and a note that said “WATCH”.

He grabbed the terminal computer and saw Claire standing in the backyard of the station through the camera. Yes! I knew she’d make it, he thought as he also noticed a video has been recorded minutes ago. Fearing what that could be, he played the recording and watched.

“Leon, I found a civilian who needs help...You can get to that courtyard through the second floor...east side...” Marvin’s face was almost pale on the screen. He was enduring tremendous pain as he said with his face twitching, “Leon, don’t worry about me. Just...save yourself...It’s too late for me. I tried...But I couldn’t stop it. We can’t...we can’t let this thing spread...Don’t try to come find me. It’s on you now. Just go...”

“Damn it...” Leon punched on the bench with his teeth clenching, “I won’t let you down, Marvin.”

He collected himself and grabbed the radio Marvin left behind before going upstairs. Just about he was going to get through the spade door in the waiting room, a guide pamphlet on the desk caught his eyes. The pamphlet was introducing some of the most popular facilities of the city, like the pharmaceutical company Umbrella, the police station, the orphanage, as usual.

But what really got Leon’s attention, was the photograph on the cover. It was a noble mid-age man in suit holding a double ponytail blonde in a white dress in his arm, in front of the City Hall. The note under it was “Raccoon City Mayor Michael Warren and his daughter Katherine”. He had nothing to do with the mayor, however, the blonde looked exactly like the intelligent vampire he encountered at the gas station.

“Katherine Warren...She’s...the mayor’s daughter? Jesus Christ...” Leon gasped in astonishment.

Though he’s wondering how she was turned and ended up there, he didn’t have much time to waste. He entered the east hallway of the second flood not long before a police helicopter heavily crashed into the station and shook the whole building. He ran out to the fire escape, only to find the pilots dead and the wreck totally blocked the way to the roof.

“HEY! LEON?” A familiar voice of a girl came from downstairs.

“CLAIRE!” He with joyful smiles saw her standing in the courtyard, “HOLD ON! I’LL BE RIGHT THERE!”

“OK!”

Sadly, the two of them were separated by a sturdy door which could not be breached by ****. It seemed like the only option was to find a key.

“Claire...I’m sorry. I don’t have the key.” Leon sighed helplessly.

“Don’t be. It’s good to see you made it.” Claire smiled with optimism.

“That makes the two of us. How are you doing?” He asked with concern.

“You know...Just surviving. I met other survivors but...got separated on the way here. And...haven’t find my brother yet.” With a bit frustration she answered.

“Claire, don’t lose hope...I’m sure we’re gonna find-”

The conversation was interrupted by the huge explosion from the helicopter. The fire bell rung immediately, which, like a dinner bell, awoke every hungry vampire in the east wing and in the courtyard. Numerous vampires were rising from the grass behind Claire and gradually closing in.

“Claire, you need to go...NOW!” Leon anxiously held on the fences.

“Don’t worry about me, Leon. You take care of yourself.” Claire pulled out her pistol and walked a few steps ahead firmly, before turning around and making a promise, “Hey...Let’s get through this. Both of us.”

Leon nodded and watched her moving between the slowly-walking vampires and disappearing. He needed to plan his next moves now. The door on his right would lead him back in the east hallway on the first floor, but it was chained. So that’s a no go.

Returning to the second floor he went into the art room, where he found a weapons locker key card. According to the map, there was a safety deposit room in west office, where the weapons locker most likely would be. Hopefully he could find some heavy weapons there.

Also, he hasn’t finished searching the library area. He would’ve guessed there was where the Unicorn statue was.

With nobody to guide him now, he once again dived into the west wing.

Chapter 3 Ends. What happens next?
