Going to school

"See you later mum." I finish my breakfast and make my way to the next bus stop which is only a five minutes walk.

I did look up the timetables yesterday and all busses arriving here are stopping at my school. I get on the bus with the number six and present my student-ID card to the bus driver. The bus is still pretty empty and I think it is no surprise as I am early today. There are only three passengers on the bus including me.

One of them seems to be a business man in a suit with a small black leather suitcase reading a newspaper. And the other man who is sitting in the back seats must to be a teacher at my school as there is the Saint-Etienne badge pinned on his jacket. He is wearing glasses, has long black hair, a three-day stubble and with his big belly he looks somewhat unkempt. My guess is that he must be in his mid-forties. He smiles at me and beckons me to sit with him.

"Hello, Mister..." I greet as I take the seat in front of him.

"Hi, there. Are you a new student? I haven't seen you on this route before. I am Mr. Smith and one of the math teachers at Saint-Etienne." he says pointing at his badge.

"Yes, I only transfered yesterday. My name is Lisa and I am in class 9C." I answer.

"Oh... Class 9C? What a coincidence. Then you are one of my students." he states, "I am early today because of the math test we are writting. Are you well-prepared Lisa?"

My head is spinning hearing this and my face must have paled as I shake my head, "No... Mr. Smith. I did not even know there is a test today."

"I understand. Don't panic Lisa and just do your best. I won't grade it harschly." He tries to assure me.

That is when the speakers announce our target destination and the bus stops at our school.

Authors note:
I know the storys pace has been pretty slow. I need to set up the next events and tie up loose ends though. I don't have an exact scene in mind yet but the whipping from her mum and a possible bad grade might open new possibilities ;)
