The next morning

It is 5:45am and my alarm clock goes off in the morning. I want to get up a little bit earlier today because I still need to get my school books from Mr. Harris before class. I wash up in the bathroom and comb my hair using a natural bristle-brush and finishing up with hairspray. People often praise my long hair and I wonder if they know how much time and care I have to spend on them every morning. I look into the mirror feeling happy. Well, beauty knows no pain.

Back in my room I put on my school uniform, apply some subtle make-up and use a light pink lipstick before moving to the kitchen. My mum is already here and she passes me a plate with a butter croissant and strawberry jam.

"Good morning Lisa. Did you sleep well?" My mum greets.

"Yes, I did sleep well." I answer. Yesterday evening I did touch a sore subject and my mum did cry and curse a lot but today she is back to herself and in a good mood. "Mum you are very early today."

She looks at me and sighs, "Well, I expected you to be up early this morning. You still have to pick up your school books right? I know you too well Lisa. You should not postpone things you should do to the last minute."

I have to blush a little at her words and quietly eat my breakfast.

"Lisa, you want me to drive you to school today?" she asks.

I shake my head lightly and smile, "No mum, I am fine today. Besides I am too old to have you drive me to school every day. I have my student-ID card now and can use the local busses."
