Fox in a hen house
The heavy wooden doors of the Quiet Council chamber slammed open with a thunderous crack, reverberating through the living wood like a gunshot. Every head turned as Scott Summers stormed inside, visor already glowing a dangerous crimson. Flanking him was Logan, claws fully extended with a menacing snikt, his face twisted in a feral snarl. Both men were breathing hard, uniforms dishevelled from their **** sprint across the island.
“Council!” Scott’s voice boomed with raw authority. “We’ve been compromised! Half the island—maybe more—has been replaced! They look like us, they sound like us, but they’re not—”
He faltered as he scanned the room. Most of the Council remained seated, watching with calm, almost bored expressions. Only a handful—Colossus, Nightcrawler’s empty seat, Hope—looked genuinely startled and began rising.
“Scott, my boy,” Charles Xavier said calmly, wheeling forward, “what is the meaning of this intrusion?”
Magneto’s cape flared as he stepped beside Xavier, brow furrowed. “Explain yourself, Summers.”
Logan’s nostrils flared, eyes narrowing on Emma Frost as she made to rise gracefully from her chair. “Don’t. Fucking. Move.”
Scott’s hand flew to his visor, dialling the intensity to maximum. “None of you are who you say you are. Emma, Irene, Shaw—none of you. We’ve seen the replacements. The way you move. The way you smile. Logan caught the scent, and Jean figured out the mental barriers. It’s her. It’s all her.”
A heavy silence fell. Then every seated council member turned their heads toward Emma in eerie, perfect unison.
Emma Frost leaned back, crossing her legs with a theatrical sigh. “Well. I suppose the game was going to end eventually.” Her lips curved into a familiar, icy smirk. “We were planning a more dramatic reveal tonight at the celebration. You’ve rather spoiled the surprise, darling.”
Scott’s blood turned to ice. “What…?”
Sebastian Shaw chuckled, the sound cultured yet carrying an unmistakable husky undertone. “The invasion you fear? It succeeded weeks ago.”
In perfect synchronicity, every converted member let their disguises dissolve.
Skin rippled like disturbed water. Deep ocean blue flooded across faces, arms, and torsos. Crimson hair cascaded in luxurious waves. Elegant sweeping horns emerged from temples and foreheads. Powerful tails uncoiled with lazy confidence. Yellow eyes glowed with predatory amusement as the Quiet Council transformed into a coven of towering, voluptuous, blue-skinned demons—all sharing the same smug, victorious smirk that screamed Mystique.
Magneto staggered back a step, magnetic energy crackling around his fists. “Impossible…”
The false Emma stood first, rising to her full height. She traced a razor-sharp claw along the living table, leaving deep gouges as her tail flicked behind her. “As for that delightful little night you remember, Scott? That wasn’t me. The Matriarch outgrew all of you long ago. I was… keeping up appearances.”
“We all were,” purred the blue-skinned Selene, licking her fangs.
Exodus pulled Hope closer, eyes blazing with righteous fury. “What were you planning to do with us, abominations?”
The one wearing Destiny’s face tapped a claw to her lip in mock thought, then grinned. “We do enjoy adding new blood to Mother’s ranks. But her appetite has grown… tremendously. Why deny her such a feast?”
A low, hungry murmur rippled through the blue councillors. The one wearing Emma’s face—licked her lips. “Jean was certainly yummy…”
Scott’s jaw clenched. “No—!”
He fired a devastating optic blast straight at Emma. The beam lanced across the chamber like a ruby spear.
Emma raised one elegant hand. A fiery stepping disc materialized, swallowing the blast whole. A second disc opened behind Scott and redirected the energy straight into his back. The impact hurled him across the room, slamming him into the far wall with a sickening crack.
“It’s cute that you thought that would work,” she cooed.
Logan roared and charged like a berserker. “You blue bitches—!”He made it three steps before ghostly blue hands erupted from the floor, grabbing his ankles and phasing him downward. He sank to his shoulders before he could react. Twisting violently, he saw Kitty Pryde—now blue-skinned, crimson-haired, yellow-eyed—grinning up at him from beneath the floorboards.
“Miss me, Logan?” she purred, winking.
“Treachery!” Magneto bellowed. He levitated, magnetic aura flaring wildly. Every scrap of metal in the chamber—chairs, utensils, even the subtle reinforcements in the walls—ripped free and became a deadly storm of shrapnel. The barrage **** several blue councillors back, shredding flesh and drawing blue blood that healed almost instantly.
Xavier helped a groaning Scott to his feet. “We must retreat! Protect the Five at all costs!”
“I concur,” Exodus declared, shielding Hope with his body as the group backed toward the exit. “We will not let these monsters consume Krakoa!”
Hope looked up at him with wide, pleading eyes. “Do you really mean that, Exodus? You’d protect me with your life?”
“With all that I am,” he vowed solemnly.
“Good…” Hope’s sweet expression melted into a fanged grin. Her jaw unhinged with wet, elastic ease. In one horrifying motion, she lunged upward and engulfed Exodus’s head and shoulders. His muffled roar vibrated through her rapidly expanding throat as her belly ballooned outward dramatically. Blue skin spread across her body like ink. When she finished swallowing, she moaned in bliss, cradling her massive, churning gut.
“Delicious,” the new Hope sighed, rubbing slow circles over the writhing bulge. “All that power… mmm.”
Chaos exploded.
Colossus shifted to organic steel and swung a haymaker at the towering Emma. His metal fist caved in her skull with a wet crunch—only for the blue flesh to immediately flow around his arm like living liquid. Fangs and eyes sprouted from the mass. Emma’s body split open like a monstrous flower, tentacles of blue flesh wrapping around him as she began pulling the screaming Russian inside.
Logan finally tore free of the floor in a spray of wood and splinters, only to be swarmed by multiple blue tentacles. They yanked him off his feet and dragged him, kicking and slashing, straight into Kitty’s waiting maw. Even as adamantium claws tore through her stomach and chest, she regenerated with a sultry laugh, as he disappeared down her throat. Phasing his metallic skeleton out of her body with a sickening wet pop. The empty adamantium frame clattered to the ground as the rest of him squirmed helplessly in her stomach.
Scott, Xavier, and Magneto fought like cornered lions. Optic blasts, telepathic assaults, and magnetic fury filled the air. But they were outnumbered and outmatched. Every fallen blue councillor got back up, laughing. Illyana’s portals redirected attacks. Hope mimicked Exodus’s powers, crushing Magneto’s helmet with the man’s skull still inside it. His body swarmed over before it hit the ground. Emma’s telepathy hammered at Scott’s mind hard enough that he finally fell to his knees. His face was drawn, and drool was escaping his lip.
A dozen blue hands finally pinned Xavier to the ground. The towering Emma—now significantly larger and heavier—straddled his waist, grinding down against him with deliberate, sensual pressure as she delicately pulled Cerebro off his head to look him eye to eye.
“Mystique! RAVEN! Why would you do this? This is madness!”
“No, Charles, this is just… An alternative evolutionary path.” The woman spoke, now fully using Mystique’s voice and mannerisms. “You tried to offer mutant-kind a direction where we could thrive with humanity. But humanity is in decline. Why waste so much effort pretending to be our food and playthings? When we could be something else completely. Be more… ME!”
“There is no future for mutant-kind like this, Raven. You have to see that.” The man couldn’t say another word as a clawed finger pressed against his lip.
“Shhh,” she whispered, stroking his cheek almost tenderly with a clawed finger. “Stop fighting, Charles. You’ll only taste bitter.”
Sitting up but retaining her smile, the Mystique-creature’s grin threatened to split her face from ear to ear. Instead, it split open from brow to chin and continued down to her neck and chest as her entire torso became a split-open maw filled with teeth and eyes that stared down at the terrified man. Tongues like tentacles snaked out and wrapped around his neck and arms as he was pulled in.
Swallowed whole.
