Flying High III ( Mitzy POV)

Once you returned to the hangar you found a message and a credstick in your dropbox. The message is encoded with your fixer code and contains two words “Vale” “Emma” and some coordinates. After the events from last night you’re inclined to follow your fixer hint. In the meantime, it has become the dead of the night so you both decide to get some rest first and take it from there after you wake up.

You are awakened by the sun shining into the living quarters of the hangar. And over a cup of hot drinks, you rehash the events of last night with your friend. Getting a map displayed by your home system you see that the coordinates of your fixer put them somewhere in the Frontier Mountains at the edge of the Mega-City 1 region. Getting there on foot will take days at least. Even by car you won’t be able to make it in one go. You also have a gut feeling that when you leave now you won't be coming back any time soon. So even if you take the Dragonfly as you nicknamed your craft you won’t be able to make it in one go because you'll probably be burdened with all the equipment you want to take with you in case an immediate return isn’t within the realm of possibilities.
After discussing it some more with your friend you decide to add the cargo module to the Dragonfly making it really look like a dragonfly when the converted drone taxi with its elongated body will take to the sky.
Luckily your hangar is located at the outskirts of the enclave ring near the agricultural ring out of the way of the hustle and bustle of the inner rings.

You still remember how after leaving high school you both started working at a maintenance shop for drone taxis. Besides you couldn’t imagine starting anywhere without your friend. With your penchants for engineering you both took to the shop like fish to water. You even became known as a power team in the shop; while you made sure that the structural parts of the taxi were back up to spec your friend handled the software and electronics that controlled the taxi and made sure they were up to spec too. The only downside you can remember about your time at the shop was the company-issued coveralls.

You had been working there for a few years when you stumbled onto the hangar. The open space of the hangar triggered a hidden desire to self-design crafts. You pitched the idea to your friend and it was actually she who came up with the idea to use scrapped and decommissioned parts to create new crafts.
And because the hangar was situated at the outskirts it had a very reasonable price.

And thus you kept working at the shop while you equipped the hangar until it was fully outfitted. At that point you gave your resignation at the maintenance shop and started your own workshop. And lo and behold one of your first clients was your old boss from the maintenance shop. You did always hear him grumbling what a pain in the ass getting an out-of-order drone taxi back to the shop was. So you designed for him a low-bed drone (more or less the equivalent of a low-bed trailer) made from various decommissioned drone taxis. That way the low-bed drone could be maintained by the shop itself.

Your workshop was already in business for some time when someone started probing you about how you would feel about becoming DAs. Putting your rigging skill (you got quite proficient driving drones by test flying all the crafts you created) and the Grid running skill of your friend to profit. And so once again you put your minds together and that resulted in the Dragonfly you still use today and that someone has become your fixer.

All in all, you did well as a DA pair and the workshop turned out to be the ideal cover. Because if some would start asking questions you could always claim you were testing a new design for a client and if push comes to shove your fixer could always provide for such a client.
