Chapter 4 by AvenX AvenX

Who is there?

Dr. Walters

A tall, bespectacled man with a white lab coat enters. His face carries a warm, reassuring smile that instantly puts you at ease.

"Good day, Alex," he greets you with a nod, his voice calm and professional. "I’m Dr. Walters I see you're here for your compulsory screening, yes?"

You nod, a mixture of eagerness and apprehension coursing through your veins. Dr. Walters guides you through the assessment process, explaining the procedure and what to expect. With the precision of a seasoned expert, takes a sample of your blood and inserts it into a device on the counter with a quiet click-beep.

“Bloodwork and DNA tests,” he tells you, “used to take hours or even days to get done. Now this machine can analyze it it in minutes.”

He reaches up and pulls the strange helmet towards you.

“While we wait for your genetics test, we can get started on the neurological test. I’m going to put this helmet over your head. I know it looks intimidating, but it doesn’t hurt. The helmet projects lights and images into your eyes and then measures your brain’s response. Then it will play some noise and measures your brain’s response to that. Okay?”

You give your consent, and Dr. Walters carefully lowers the helmet onto your head. For a moment, you're surrounded by darkness. The helmet's interior feels snug but not uncomfortable, its sleek surface cool against your skin.

Once the helmet is securely in place, Dr. Walters begins the test. It starts with a soft hum as the helmet projects patterns of light and imagery into your field of vision. Shapes and colors dance before your eyes, and the sensation is strangely soothing. You focus on the shifting patterns, feeling a sense of relaxation wash over you. You swear you some of the images are rather pornographic, but they are gone before you can really see what they are.

As the test continues, the helmet introduces a series of sounds, varying in intensity and tone. Some sound distinctly like moans while others sound oddly like mooing. Most are over too fast for you to understand what they are.

Time seems to pass in a blend of sensory experiences and a state of meditative calm. The neurological test, while fascinating, is also a reminder of how far science has come in understanding the intricate workings of the human brain. The helmet's quiet whir and the soft hum of the testing equipment create a serene atmosphere within the examination room.

Finally, after what feels like both a brief moment and an eternity, Dr. Walters gently removes the helmet. His warm, reassuring smile remains as he carefully places the device back on the counter.

"Thank you for your cooperation, Alex. You did great," he says, his professional demeanor laced with genuine appreciation. "I’ve got all your test results. Your intellectual and physical abilities combined with the genetics test, you will…

Will you be allowed to reproduce?
