Where is the unicorn medallion?

Don't know, but Claire found it

“What? Where did it go?” Leon backed up a few steps in disbelief.

No, this couldn’t have been for nothing. The medallion must still be in the station somewhere. I just need to find it. Leon made up his mind. The burden that has been put on his shoulder was too heavy that he must not give up.

He continued searching the lounge and found a map of the second floor. Looked like the door at the north-west corner would lead him to the west hallway, which he saw earlier was blocked by debris. He tried to open it but it was locked from the other side. No luck here, huh?

Just when he was about to leave, he heard someone unlocked the door from behind. He was immediately alert and pointed his gun at the door. What could possibly open a locked door at a time like this?

“What? Leon?” Claire rushed out and awkwardly found herself again pointed by a gun, by the same person in the same night.

“Claire? You made it into the station! Well...sorry.” Leon was happy to see a friendly and quickly put down the gun.

“It’s OK. How are you doing?” Claire looked around the room quite nervously, like she was looking for something.

“Not so well. I was searching three statues for three medallions to open a secret tunnel for us to leave the station. But the unicorn medallion in this statue is missing.” Leon pointed the statue behind them to Claire and noticed her anxiety, “Are you alright?”

“Have you seen a little girl around here? Blonde, about 11 or 12 years old?” She sighed with her fingers crossed.

“No...? Who is she?” Leon was confused. At least he didn’t see anyone still alive all this time searching in the west wing.

“I don’t know. I just came out of the S.T.A.R.S. office and saw that girl running in this direction. She crawled into a vent and I thought she went into this room...” Claire looked disappointed, “She must’ve been hiding and traversing in the ventilation system. It’s too dangerous for her to stay here alone. Leon, I’ll go look for her.”

“OK. I’ll keep searching for the medallions. Here, take this radio. We can keep in touch if something comes up. Also there is a king statue in the art room, second floor east wing. Someone took a photo of it with this book. I don’t what this is about. Hope you can find out.” Leon handed the radio Marvin left behind and the book sculpture to her, “Be careful. This station is like a maze.”

“Yeah, I noticed, thanks. Hey, I think you could use this.” She grabbed the cutting tool from her pouch and gave it to him, “I saw some of the doors were chained. Perhaps the missing medallions were hidden in those rooms.”

“Great.” Leon was unexpected to get this from Claire, “Good luck, Claire.”

“See you.” Claire waved her hand before running out the room.

Leon took a deep breath and went into the hallway. If David, the turned office he killed earlier, wasn’t lying, there was a detonator behind the chained door in the operations room. He could use that to detonate the C4 explosives upstairs to reach the maiden statue.

But first, he went into the S.T.A.R.S. office to find if there’s anything useful. He found a standard 9-volt battery on the Captain’s desk, which could be helpful in case the one on the detonator was dead. He also found Barry Burton’s desk, hoping to find more silver bullets but there were none. Failed to find the unicorn medallion, he left the office after collecting some shotgun shells and a first aid spray.

The high temperature steam was switched off with a valve handle, probably by Claire. That meant he could get past the hole and return to the staircase. Vampires were still roaming the hallway but as long as they’re the mindless one, they wouldn’t pose a threat to him now. He slipped past them with ease and safely got to the operations room.

Using the cutting tool he unchained the door and went inside. Immediately he noticed a detonator on the desk and, after putting the battery on, it’s fully functional. There was also a flash grenade which he thought would be useful against the lickers. The unicorn medallion was not here, either.

Without wasting any more time, he rushed back to the third floor. He carefully searched the room, but still couldn’t find the unicorn medallion, before he placed the detonator on the wall. After 10 seconds of waiting, a huge explosion blew up the fences and cleared a path for him to reach the maiden statue. This time, he confirmed the symbols and successfully got the maiden medallion. Good, that’s two of them. I just need to look for the missing medallion now, he thought.

The explosion caused such a loud noise that he heard vampires growling in the staircase. He quickly ran through the door to the library before he was overwhelmed. He locked the door behind him, knowing that he would never go back to the storage room again.

Trying to continue looking for the last medallion, He walked to the door at the north-east corner, but floor crashed and he fell on the second floor before he could reach it. However, that meant he had searched every available room in the west wing, but the unicorn medallion was nowhere to be found. He punched on the bookshelf in anger. He didn’t have time to feel despair, but he really needed a moment to calm himself.

“Leon? Are you there?” Claire’s voice came from the radio in a good time.

“Claire? What’s wrong?” He replied.

“I found the unicorn medallion you’re looking for here. You got any luck there?” She sounded less anxiously than before.

“Yeah, I have the maiden medallion. We can open the tunnel in the main hall now!” He yelled in excitement, “Did you find the little girl?”

“She helped me find the medallion, actually. We’re separated now, but I think the secret tunnel can lead us to her.” Claire answered.

“OK. Return to the main hall. I’ll be there in a minute.” Leon regained the spirit to keep going, “Let’s get the hell out of here.”

“Agreed.”

He rushed through the door and went back into the main hall. He saw Claire already standing next to the goddess statue and the second of three locks were unlocked. He greeted her joyfully and, after putting the maiden medallion on the lock, finally opened the secret tunnel. Behind the door was a stair leading into the darkness. They didn’t know what’s under there, but surely it was better than here.

“Right, let’s-”

Before Leon could finish the sentence, the shutter door on the east side was completely crushed. A giant humanoid creature, nearly 8 feet tall, with three tentacles coming from its mouth and hands and with green vines covering it body, walked out slowly. Looking at the mouth-like tentacles and fangs, Leon immediately realized that this was the monster that killed officer Elliot.

“Jesus. That thing again? And it’s...bigger...” Claire worriedly grabbed the grenade launcher.

“You’ve met it before?” Leon was shocked.

“I thought I've burnt down that son of a bitch in the east office.” Claire loaded one of her remaining two flame rounds with her hands a bit shaking, “How could it still be alive?”

Leon aimed at the monster and fired. The silver bullet blew a big hole in its head, burnt the tissues around it. The monster screamed at the two of them and started approaching, while the wound on its head was slowly regenerating. Leon was astonished that even silver bullets were not enough to kill this thing.

“Try this again!” Claire pulled the trigger and fired a flame round.

To their surprise, the monster swept its tentacle so swiftly that it deflected the flame round into the wall behind it. In the fiery light, it looked like a invincible devil. Claire had only a round left, which could be their last chance to defeat it. It must have some kind of core under the vines in its body that wasn’t totally destroyed last time. Maybe this time...

Leon pulled out the shotgun and looked at Claire, while she was also looking back at him.

What should they do?
