Didn’t go as planned

As it turns out, the creator of symbiotes in this universe did not take kindly to the existence of a new symbiote from a BNWO universe. Demarcus was soon being hunted by the other symbiotes from all around the world and beyond.

Demarcus managed to defeat all the symbiote creatures that came after him and his own BNWO symbiote readily consumed them, absorbing their abilities, which steadily made Demarcus ever more powerful.

Eventually, Demarcus was forced to come face to face with the source of symbiotes - Knull, the primordial deity of darkness. After an epic battle, Demarcus defeated Knull and consumed the literal dark God, becoming the new ‘King in Black.’

Demarcus thus attained godlike power over darkness and absolute mastery over his symbiotes. He was able to morph into any creature.

After defeating Knull, Demarcus spent some time hunting down the symbiote remnants and adsorbing them in order to be the only one remaining. Eventually only one other symbiote remained - Venom, who was bonded with Eddie Brock.

Demarcus easily stalked Eddie Brock back on earth. Venom was no match for the King in Black, and Demarcus easily ripped Venom off Eddie and merged with the last stray symbiote, successfully becoming the ultimate one and only symbiote in the universe.

Due to shock, Eddie passed out. Demarcus put the unconscious Eddie in a back-alley and was about to leave when the sound of someone clapping hands filled the back-alleyway.

A woman with brown hair wearing a brown trench coat stepped into the dark alley while clapping his hands. “That’s pretty impressive, boy,” the woman said.

“Boy?” Demarcus asked while still in his monstrous symbiote form. “Who are you calling boy?”

The woman stopped clapping and grinned. “Demarcus Johnson, age 21…” she said, “My mistake, you can legally drink, so I guess that makes you a man now.”

“Who are you!?”

“The name’s Nina Fury,” the woman replied, “I’m the director of Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division.”

“What?”

“You can call us S.H.I.E.L.D.” Nina Fury said, “We’ve been watching you for some time. You’ve done us a big favor, hunting down these slimy space aliens all over the world.”

“They hunted me first.”

“Is that right?” Nina asked, “Well it looks like you got all of them in the end. All the ones that we’ve been tracking anyways. Who knows how many more of them are out there.”

“Zero. I got them all.”

“Yet I still see one before me…”

“You wanna go, lady?” Demarcus growled and then paused. He sensed that he was being watched. Hundreds of people have surrounded the area.

Demarcus glanced up at the sky. There was something up there, invisible to the human eye. However with the symbiote, Demarcus’s eyes weren’t human. He could clearly see the hovering invisible jet overhead, tilted to point its weapons at the alleyway.

“You’re sharp,” Nina Fury said, “Look, from what we observed, you’re quite unlike the others who are infected by this slimy parasite. Others often lose control but you seem to have perfect control over yours. How would you like to work for SHIELD?”

Demarcus glared at Nina suspiciously. “What kind of work?”

Nina smiled. “I’ve assembled a team of incredible individuals like yourself. Have you heard of the Avengers Initiative?”

“The Avengers? You want me to join the Avengers?”

“In short yes. We will be defending earth from all treats, within and without. It’s not much different from what you’ve been up to these past years, but now you get a badge and a salary.”
