Devoted Hive-Mind

You are a sickly 18 year old that can barely get out of bed in the morning due to a debilitating disease you’ve had your entire life. Like all viruses, the pathogen causing your disease grows and develops over time by replicating its DNA, though mistakes can be made during this process, which can cause unique mutations.

One day by pure chance, the virus accidentally mixes your DNA with its own while replicating itself, which causes an abnormal mutation. The virus merges with your body’s cells and becomes integrated into all systems throughout your body. The virus essentially becomes part of you, and its genetic programming changes from replicating itself and ensuring its own survival to replicating itself and ensuring your survival.

It has evolved into a unique collective entity with its own personality. The hive-mind is genetically programmed to protect you at all costs. It does so by spreading itself to other life forms and hijacking their bodies while using them to replicate and spread further. Being connected to your brain, the virus has absolute understanding and control of your mind, but desires to maintain internal homeostasis by keeping you happy and unaware of its existence. It anticipates your desires and goes out of its way to distract you while suppressing thoughts it doesn’t want you thinking or worrying about.
