Delivery Man

I open the door to a delivery man holding a small box. He hands me it and then walks off. I don’t remember ordering anything, but the address is ours. Actually, it has Emma’s name on it.

“What is it babe?” Asks Emma as she walks out of the bathroom looking refreshed.

“It’s a package for you.” I said, handing her the box.

She stares at the box for a moment, before her eyes spark in recognition.

“Right…Rebecca got me a present.” Emma replied. “It’s, uh, secret girl stuff. So you’re not allowed to look.”

“I understand, I understand.” I sigh, putting my hands up in surrender.

Now I’m even more curious.

She puts the box away in the closet, before starting to get dressed. Wait, getting dressed? I was going to try and further our relationship today?

“Are you going somewhere?” I slowly ask.

“Oh, uh, yeah.” Emma quickly nods. “Rachel needed help with her thing, so I’m going to help her.”

Man, how unfortunate. But if she needs to help her friend then what am I supposed to say?

“Have a great day babe.” I smile.

She continues getting ready, wearing a pretty dress, putting in some nice earrings, even adding more makeup than usual and some lipstick. She’s really getting dolled up for her friend. Wonder if that somehow is part of the help.

“Bye!” She waves with a smile, heading out the door.

I spend the rest of the day watching television until Emma finally comes back in the evening, joining me in watching television on the other end of the couch.

Guess I’ll have to try again another day.

The next day ends up being pretty boring. Wake up, get ready, and go to work. But I actually end up getting out of work quicker than I expected.

Maybe I should surprise Emma at work!
