Curse Rules

There have been a few questions regarding Maisie's curse that it might be helpful to clarify here, as Maisie herself was naturally quite vague about the details in her dialogue.

In short, there is very little that can't be done to Maisie with the curse, but only by the first person who discovered it, in this case the other main character of the story, her friend turned Master. This is to encourage creativity and to allow other writers to take the story wherever they want with few limitations.

Can Maisie's mind be controlled?

Yes, though this is not the only method by which the curse can be used on her and this is not intended to be purely or even primarily a mind control story. However, her mind can be manipulated in many ways, for example compelling her to obedience "Maisie, you will do as I say" changing her personality or intelligence "Maisie, you are now extremely timid and subservient", or her beliefs and feelings "Maisie, you are hopelessly in love with me and think you always have been".

Can Maisie be physically changed?

Yes, in just about any way imaginable, from full transformations "Maisie, turn into a dog", to partial ones "Maisie grow three inches taller" and anything in between. They can also be combined with a mental change "Maisie, you will turn into a dog and think that is what you have always been" The changes can also be made to appear normal to other people "Maisie, you will shrink to half your usual size, but nobody will think anything is amiss". As the curse was intended as a punishment not a reward for the victim, to encourage Master to use it for **** rather than for personal or mutual gain, and to safeguard others, Maisie cannot be given super human powers that could benefit her or manipulate others e.g. "Maisie, you can make money appear from thin air" or "Maisie, you now have magical, hypnotic powers, and will make that girl over there fall in love with me"

Can Maisie's reality be changed?

Up to a point. "Maisie, you are President of the USA" wouldn't work, but "Maisie, you are a brilliantly gifted politician with an ambition to run for office" might eventually.

What about things like changing Maisie's clothes? Or teleporting her?

No. Only Maisie herself can be changed, not what she is wearing. Though people's perception of Maisie can be changed so "Maisie, everyone now thinks you are wearing nothing but a bikini" would work. And teleportation would be reality warping and is beyond the scope of the curse.

Can other people be affected?

Again, only up to a point. Other people's direct perception of Maisie can be changed "Maisie, everyone now thinks you are naked" but other people can't be directly caught by commands intended for Maisie e.g. "Maisie, merge with that person over there" though of course she could be made to, for example, fall in love with anyone the her Master chooses, though how they react to her suddenly being in love with them would be down to that individual.

Who can control Maisie?

Just the other main character. Only the first male to find out about Maisie's curse can ever use it on her, and she told him about it at the first opportunity, thinking he would never use it on her. It is not a power that can be passed on or shared, though of course the Master could choose to take requests from other people.

Can the MC control other family members?

No. No man can control more than one family member or switch family members. MC will only ever be able to control Maisie.

Do the commands given to Maisie wear off?

No, not naturally. They need to be reversed by her Master, unless they were time limited in the first place "Maisie, you are unable to wear anything for a week"

Do commands have to be spoken and in person?

No, they just have to be received and understood so can be given via text or phone. Of course a text could be deleted without being read, but it would be very easy for the master to issue a command to stop that ever happening.

Could the curse cause the **** of the person carrying it?

No, once triggered it is impossible for the person carrying it to die other than by natural causes. This is not for altruistic reasons, but to prevent them from using this as a way to escape the curse. Similarly, the cursed person can neither kill or encourage anyone else to kill their master.

Who else carries the curse?

Any of Maisie's blood relatives who are eighteen or over and identify as female. In each case, it will only be the first person who finds out about their curse (excluding blood relatives) who can use it on them. They therefore have the choice of telling someone they trust in the hope it won't be abused, or risk it being triggered by someone else.

Couldn't the curse be used in a nice way and in fact be a blessing?

Yes, but the witch who placed the curse originally believed it never would. Due to her low opinion of men, and the natural beauty of the women in Maisie's family, she was confident the curse would only ever be used to satisfy the masters sexual desires. To her, the fact that the curse could be used for good but never would (at least in her predictions) made it all the more cruel.

Can commands be given to Maisie when she isn't there?

She doesn't need to be there in person to be commanded, but she does need to be able to receive it. So they could be given via text or over the phone, but not just spoken normally when she is out of earshot. They can be time triggered "Maisie, in three hours time you will remove all your clothes" or triggered by something else "Maisie, when you next hear the work poultry you will act like a chicken until further notice"
