Couple Important Questions

While the Information Button did feel like a cheat code, Jaune couldn’t resist asking a couple questions he wanted to know. Cheating with a magical remote seemed inconsequential compared to the knowledge he could obtain.

“How many channels does a person... Er… unit have?”

“There are currently 1.5 billion channels.” Velvet answered.

“BILLIONS?!” If Jaune had been drinking something, he would have done a spit take. “Wha… how… why so many?!”

“There are virtually every conceivable show on a Unit.” Velvet explained simply, in her monotone style voice. “As users watch them, they will change and approach the lower numbered channels. If you are looking for a show, just use the Info Button and state your inquiry. Not every Unit displays the same scene on the channel, so detailed descriptions may be required by the user.”

“What are the first couple channels then?” Jaune asked. “Since they are the most popular.” he decided to worry about the possibility of other remotes later. It wasn’t like he could do anything about it at the moment.

“The first five channels are as follows: Channel 1, News. Channel 2 Sports. Channel 3 Adult Entertainment. Channel 4, Cooking. Channel 5, Cleaning and Lifestyle.”

“Wow…” Jaune couldn’t believe this. He could virtually change anything about someone with the channel option. Not to mention all the fun the other buttons had. There was just one downside he could think of that would make it harder to play around. “Shame I can't use this in public since people would notice someone changing.”

“If you are concerned a unit’s actions would be examined, then it is suggested you use the Awareness Button.” Velvet continued to provide information.

“Awareness button?” Jaune blinked and stared at the remote. Then he saw it. At the bottom of the remote there was a big button with AWARE in big red letters.

How had he missed that?

“What’s this button do?” Jaune asked, appreciating the Info Button more and more, even if Velvet was kind of mindless during the whole ordeal. He would free her soon enough as he had so many people to try the remote on.

“The Awareness Button has three modes.” Velvet informed him. “Default causes the Unit to be unaware of the change. The button will have red letters. The next option causes the Unit to be seen as normal to every other Unit. No one will question the Unit’s changes. The button will glow Green. Lastly, all Units will be aware of the changes, even the Unit itself. While physical changes will occur, the Unit’s mental state will remain unchanged. The Awareness Button will be Blue.”

Jaune instantly swapped to the Green Awareness Button.

Just in case.

“Are there any other questions?” Velvet tilted her head.

Jaune really couldn’t think of any at that moment. More of the fact his mind was already thinking of the possibilities with channels. Enough testing, the boy wanted to have some fun and now that the Awareness Button was green, any channel he set someone too would be seen as normal. Like Stripper Weiss. Jaune licked his lips as he imagined that. It didn’t even have to be here. There were countless girls at Beacon, not to mention Velvet sitting right in front of him.

Plus, if the number of channels were true, there might be some other erotic channels. Scratch there, there WILL be other channels. It didn’t even have to be erotic though. Turning some serious people into cartoons or something had its appeal. Jaune had all the time in the world to play around. Maybe get a girlfriend or two.

Okay, he was a boy and naturally getting a harem was on his mind.

Looking at Velvet, he hit the Information Button again and the bunny girl blinked before returning to normal.

“-...ask.” Velvet finished, unaware she had been frozen, had her channel changed, and unknowingly been used as a Help Guide.
