Confrontations: A Wolf Pretending To Be A Sheep, Part 10 - Gun To Gun, Part 9
Staring at the heavy door leading to the roof Aaron went over a few things., "If Everything Goes According To My Plans It Shouldn't Be Necessary But...," Aaron thought to himself as he swapped his Tec-9 to his left hand and grabbed The Japanese G41 Tel-Nin Pistol strapped to his right leg and took a deep breath before kicking the door to the roof clear off its hinges and sending it flying across the roof where twenty armed gunmen waited to end his life.
As Aaron dove forward, guns in hand he was smiling. His bold entry drew the attention of everyone on the roof and The moment he hit the ground and rolled to his feet they were training their guns on him but before they could fire a flash of bright white light that made their optic nerves feel like they were going to melt burst from the doorway. This situation was perfect for Aaron because with his back to the blinding light and his superb night vision he could easily reduce their numbers before they recovered.
The blinding flash lasted less than a second but its intensity was enough and with The Tel-Nin Aaron easily brought down five Men, four to a heart shot and the last to a critical head shot, The Fractal Point Rounds causing the Men's torsos and skull to literally explode while Aaron used The Tec-9 to take out another three Men, two with head shots. The third Man was somewhat unlucky though Aaron wouldn't be losing any sleep over it, Aaron was about to put a round in the third Man's heart when he received a warning from one of the satellites overhead he was using to monitor the area that a Sniper was about to fire on his position. Aaron twisted to the side to avoid the shot which skidded off his Light Shield but in the process it ruined his shot so instead of killing his target instantly with a shot to the chest, it wound up cutting the Man in half at the waist. He died of a combination of shock, internal damage, and massive blood loss roughly a minute and a half later while screaming and sobbing. It was a pitiful way to die but Aaron couldn't exactly say he was sorry.
Without pausing Aaron brought up scans of the roof top of the building across the street where the sniper was perched and made some quick calculations. The rest of the Men on the roof with him were about to get their sight back and to their credit they hadn't begun firing blindly when they lost their sight or heard shots being fired but that didn't matter because counting the one that had fired at him there were three more on the roof about to join the game and his readouts on the weapons of the two furthest away would be problematic if he didn't act quickly. He was already out numbered on the roof and at least two of the snipers were carrying Anti-Material Rounds which meant that even with his Light Shield he was in danger.
With the relevant information flooding his Hud it didn't take long to run the calculations for his next step and even less time to confirm them with Gog after all Aaron couldn't afford the slightest mistake or he wouldn't leave the roof alive. The entire process took a little less than a fifth of a second and Aaron didn't hesitate to angle both guns in the air and fire each one twice as he moved them from right to left. Aaron didn't have the luxury of standing back and observing the results so he pushed his Hud to the periphery of his vision and turned back to the rest of the gunmen on the roof who were regaining their vision albeit slowly.
Across the street the snipers were in for a surprise as the eight rounds that Aaron had fired into the air rained down like the wrath of God, causing head and torso to explode like they'd carelessly laid down in a mine field but the last sniper who had Aaron in their sights fired just as their body was obliterated by the falling slugs.
Aaron had his hands full dealing with the remaining Men who had gotten enough sight back to begin taking shots at him. Aaron effortless weaved out of the way but he underestimated the last sniper who wasn't only using using an Anti-Material Rife but Guided Anti-Material Hypersonic Rounds. Aaron underestimated his ability to dodge even with advanced warning and vector analysis. Aaron's dodge was a tenth of a second too slow and the round altered its course, piercing his Light Shield and grazing his side, fracturing two of his ribs while breaking another. Aaron winced but showed no other signs of discomfort. Of course, It hurt like hell but Aaron shoved the pain to the side before it could impair his ability to move and react. Such was his **** of will.
Without the snipers breathing down his neck, Aaron had little difficulty killing three more of the Men on the roof. Ducking under a double tap aimed at his face, Aaron thrust the Tel-Nin in his right hand forward and pulled the trigger just as it made contact with his adversary's chest at the same time he leveled his Tec-9 at another nearby Gunman's Head causing the head and chest of the Men to explode in a spray of what could easily be mistaken for red paint. That is if red paint had bits of bone and chunks of flesh missed into it of course.
Aaron didn't rest on his laurels as he fired his Tel-Nin as soon as it was clear of the exploding torso in front of him, firing a single round that killed the gunman beside of the one he just killed with his Tec-9.
Looking around Aaron found himself surrounded by the remaining nine Men. Aaron held out his guns and slowly turned in a circle, pointing each of his weapons at all nine Men at least once.
"Looks like we've got a stand off on our hands.," Aaron commented with a wry smile.
The Men pointing their guns at Aaron were not amused by any means and one of them spoke., "Who The Fuck Are You Kidding Brat? You're Going To Die Here You LITTLE SHIT!"
Then the Man to his right spoke up., "You Killed So Many of Our Comrades... Do You Have Anything To Say You Son of A Bitch Before We Kill You Like The Shit-Eatin' Dog YOU ARE?!"
Aaron shrugged his shoulders and rotated his wrists so that he could give them the finger as his form flickered and then disappeared momentarily.
The Gunmen, enraged by Aaron's flippant attitude in the face of his hopeless situation opened fire. Aaron simply smiled, dropped his guns, and stared up at the sky as the bullets instead of being deflected by his Light Shield passed right through him.
"THAT'S RIGHT! THAT'S RIGHT!...," One of the gunman yelled gleefully, his face twisted into a feral snarl.
"TAKE THAT YOUR ARROGANT SON OF A BITCH!...," Yelled another gunman who laughed maniacally.
The whole ordeal took about a minute and when it was over Aaron was still standing without a mark on him. All of the Men looked at one another quizzically and then collapsed, blood leaking from various wounds. Aaron bowed low like a theater actor greeting the crowd after the show, raising back up with his arms wide he pointed toward the doorway he came from and made a gesture like pointing a gun and fired. At that same instant he disappeared and reappeared beside the door.
Leaned up against the wall, Aaron breathed a sigh of relief and laughed loudly., "The Idiots Killed Themselves!"
After nearly a minute of almost maniacal laughter, Aaron got a grip on himself and pushed off from the wall and strode across the roof, winding up in the center of a ring of bloody bodies. Aaron held up his right hand and looked at it, The skin on the back of his hand was burnt, blackened in some places and red and blistered in others. Aaron's hand shook slightly as he inspected it., "The modifications were easy enough but it appears that projecting a hyper-realistic hologram of myself while using the stealth mode upgrade drew way too much power."
Aaron watched the skin of his hand ripple, blister and blacken as the humming emitted by The Light Shield slowly ground to a halt, the device partially fused to his hand., "Unless its something that doesn't require alot of power this thing is useless to me now.," Aaron sighed, looking at his shaking hand with annoyance.
"STOP!," Aaron growled, some of the muscle and bone in his hand clearly visible but it continued to shake slightly., "If you're not going to obey... then... I have no more use for you."
Almost immediately Aaron's hand stopped shaking and became as steady as a rock. Aaron smiled approvingly, and scanned the area with his satellites.
"Ah It seems the rats have managed to clear out the rubble on the lobby floor and are making their way up to me.," Aaron commented to no one particular., "Not Unexpected But I Didn't Think I'd Have To Use My Little Surprise So Early.," Aaron thought to himself.
Aaron took the chance to relax but he kept an eye on things with his satellites so he wouldn't be taken off guard., "I Can't Afford Another Debilitating Episode Like Before or... I Might Not Be Able To Recover In Time."
Aaron leaned against the wall and sighed, looking up at the night sky., "I Wish I Could Share This Sight With Monica... The Stars Sure Are Beautiful But... Why Do I Get The Feeling That They're Actually Watching Me Instead of The Other Way Around?"
Aaron watched the situation in the stairwell on the Hud displayed prominently in his field of vision and chuckled mirthfully to himself as he watched them slowly and carefully ascend from the bottom floor, keeping an eye out for traps while avoiding ones set previously. It took them roughly five minutes to climb the stairs to the fifth floor stairwell and to say they were horrified by the carnage that awaited them would be an understatement. A couple of them even loss their lunches.
"One... Five... Twelve... Fifteen. There Are Fifteen of Them.," Aaron thought with a smile, sinking back into his Predatory State of Mind., "It Really Is Too Bad Numbers Are All You Have On Your Side."
As the fifteen heavily armed assailants made their way to Aaron they soon found themselves trapped.
"What THE HELL IS THIS?!," The Leader yelled in surprise, unable to take the final step toward the door to the roof. A Shimmering Wall of Light suddenly appeared to block his path, his eyes widened in realization., "Quick Run! Get Back!"
The gunmen behind him turned and tried to head back down the stairs but it was too late. Using various means they tried to determine the parameters of their confinement and found that the whole level of the stairwell was cordoned off by a wall of rippling light which shimmered to life every time someone or something touched it before fading from sight.
"Dammit WE'RE TRAPPED LIKE RATS!," One of the gunmen screamed in frustration.
On the roof, Aaron's smile widened as the cubical enclosure trapping his would-be assassins slowly began to shrink. As their prison got smaller and smaller several of the terrified gunmen began to panic. One of them fired at The Light Shield but all he succeeded in doing was injuring himself, two others and killing one of the team. Another one of the gunmen tried to use their knife but aside from breaking the blade and nearly losing several fingers they didn't accomplish much.
A number of the remaining fourteen desperately begged for mercy but Aaron ignored their pleas. Eventually the cube shrank to such a degree that the fourteen of them were shoved so tightly against one another that within a minute, They were unable to breathe let alone scream as the cube collapsed into a brilliant pinprick of light and blinked out of existence a fraction of a second later leaving no traces behind of the fifteen people ensnared in a cruel and inescapable trap set by what could only be described as a Fiend.
"Such A Shame... If They Had Anti-Material Weapons They Might Have Been Able To Escape.," Thought Aaron as he pushed off the wall with his foot and strode across the rooftop before stopping short of the center, each step feeling heavier than the last, a cold chill racing up his spine and his breath became visible in the hot night air.
"It has been so long since these eyes have beheld The Majesty of The Elder... So Young and yet... so very, very old.," A soft voice from behind gently caressed Aaron's ears.
Aaron turned and his eyes widened., "Who Are You?!"
