Cliff Top Meet Up
“Whoaa!” Kyoka cried as her foot slipped. You glanced over to her just in time to see the safety jetpack around her waist activate and stop her from falling much. She spun around in mid air, unused to the jetpack but eventually got orientated and with the help of her earplug earlobe things, she drew herself back to the cliff face.
“You okay?” You ask her as she regained her footing. She gave a shaky nod before steeling herself.
“Yeah, let um, let’s finish, we're almost to the top,” Kyoka said as she tested her next foothold and quickly made the next five feet to the cliff top. You followed after her at your own pace, taking in the last notes the cliff made.
Making it over the top, you stand up and walk over to where Kyoka was sitting down on the ground with Callie looking over her and Marie fanning her. Kyoka looked annoyed at the attention.
“It was just a slip, if this jetpack thing didn’t turn on,” she tugged on the jetpack belt in frustration, “I would’ve been just fine.”
“We believe you,” Callie replied before seeing Kyoka’s expression. “Anyways, how did you like the music? It wasn’t what I’m used to but it was cool!”
“It was alright, I guess,” Kyoka said, playing it a little aloof.
“That was AMAZING!” Someone shouted a few feet away from your group. You all looked over and saw a certain Orion Starfleet ensign and a cyborg Starfleet ensign cheering and talking loudly. Tendi of Star Trek Lower Decks was squeeing with Rutherford over the musical cliffs. “They were like ‘ooooo’ then ‘zzzaaaa’ and then ‘wweeeee’!”
“And then it went ‘ahhhhh!’” Rutherford exclaimed excitedly.
“Are they friends of Starfire?” Kyoka remarked, sarcasm dripping with each word.
“Nah, they’re just enthusiastic about the engineering that went into these cliffs,” you figured based on what you remembered of the characters. It was at that point that both Tendi and Rutherford noticed your group’s staring.
“Can we help you?” Rutherford asked.
“Sorry, y’all surprised us with the sounds you made,” you said as your two groups converged.
“Which path did you take in the climb? The tonal progression after the arpeggio on C3 was so fresh,” Marie said, cocking her head slightly.
“Oh um, I really liked the bit after the ‘wee-woo-wee’ part on the C5 path,” Tendi replied. “Hey weren’t you the people who got stuck in that holodeck a week ago?”
“And weren’t you Mariner’s old friend from another universe,” Rutherford pointed out as a look of recognition came across the two.
“Yup, good to see y’all again,” you said, holding your hand out for a handshake.
“Mariner told us all about the trip you had, I can’t believe you got to be on Voyager,” Rutherford whispered ‘Voyager’ while cupping a hand over her mouth and looking around for eavesdroppers. Considering that Starfleets ‘Time Cops’ told Mariner and T’Lyn not to talk about your little trip to the past just like they told you not to talk about it, you knew Mariner might’ve broken a few rules to your not surprise. “What was it like?”
“It was great, Lieutenant Torres did engineering and science experiments on me,” you smiled gossipily. You were about to go into detail when yet another person made their presence known.
“Hey! I can feel fresh gossip! You better not start without me!” Ino shouted from the cliff side. Her hands reached the edge of the cliff and she easily pulled herself up. “You better not have forgotten about me!” She pouted with her hand on her hips.
