Clara strikes first

Almost before Reinette realized what was happening, Clara made a move, taking a step forward and twisting her hips, her right leg snapping up and throwing her dress up as she launched a kick at her opponent's ribs. Her foot slammed into Reinette's body, causing her to stumble to her right, gasping from the impact. Clara didn't give her a chance to recover, planting her foot on the ground before continuing the spin, this time bringing her left leg up and thrusting her foot directly into Reinette's stomach. The startled French woman was thrown back by the **** of the blow, falling into the nearest chair, grabbing at the arms to stabilize herself.
"Maybe I should have mentioned," Clara said, stepping toward the dazed Reinette. "I take taekwondo classes."
"I... do not know what nonsense you speak," Reinette gasped, pushing herself to her feet. She balled up a fist, throwing it clumsily at Clara's head; Clara simply stepped to the side, catching Reinette's arm and spinning her around to toss her to the floor.
"A martial art from the far East," she explained, as Reinette hit the floor with a thud. "A bit after your time, actually..." She moved over Reinette's body, dropping to one knee which she pressed against her opponent's back; she grabbed Reinette by her left arm and bent it up and back, causing her to cry out in pain.
"And then this is just a good old arm lock," Clara continued almost conversationally as she stretched Reinette's arm. "Maybe you weren't ready for a fight after all."
