Chapter 5 by OrionVale35 OrionVale35

A Date, and what's up with the letter?

Chapter 3

The rest of the week passed with little fanfare, tracking Isabella’s scores increasing slowly across the board. Today was the day that her obedience score would increase by 25, netting him an event. What that event would do, he had no idea. He had confirmed that the elf had streamed before her usual time in more risque clothing than usual, so the app definitely worked as advertised. Which was good, but he didn’t want to use it on Xrn. The mothgirl had met him outside his apartment a few times, looking at the lights she had said. But they had nice, if short conversations and decided on a dinner spot overlooking the river on the west side of the city. To catch the setting sun as it descended over the mountains.

Derek had spent almost the entire week washing his clothes and cleaning up his apartment. Managing to fit in a few games of DracoFight before the weekend, and meeting with a few of the sales team. The idea of using the app on Xrn felt almost wrong to him, a girl that he didn’t need the app to attract sounded a little surreal. Given that he never had much luck with the ladies in high school or college. Besides, she was genuinely attracted to him, watching her Love numbers go up a bit without any set schedule was exactly the confidence boost he needed. Her profile now read.

Harem Member 002: Xrn Klvzskch

Race: Mothgirl (Luna moth Variant)

The date, and then the banquet with the Andilets. At least he would get some relaxation before the inevitable confrontation. A deep sigh escaped his lungs as he put on an untucked short sleeve button down shirt, it was covered in a light blue pattern that went well with his jeans. A pair of brown semi casual shoes matched his brown belt, along with two liberal spritzes of cologne. Ensuring that he smelled softly of maple, one of Luna moths favorite foods. He would only use the app for soft advantages with Xrn, at least for now.

With that he strode out in the hallway, where the mothgirl was waiting underneath the brightest light. Three fixtures down from his door, wearing a flowing backless jade green dress specifically made to fit her slightly oversized shoulders and with pockets in the back and the front. Not very big ones, but the fact that she told him about them three times this week meant that they were at least somewhat important. Still she had a clutch that matched her dress, contrasting well with her fluff and her exoskeleton.

“....Wow”

He breathed out when he saw her, extending an arm towards her in a gentlemanly way as if to lock arms together. Blushing as she took his arm in hers, and placed the other around his shoulder. Drawing herself closer to him, her antenna twitching just a bit with nervousness or at least he hoped it was nervousness. Because he sure as shit was nervous, his heart was just about dropping into his stomach.

“You like the way I look?”

She shifted her hips from side to side in a half twirl, the dress pulling at all the right places and leaving very little to the imagination. Then her hips bumped into his on accident, sending him stumbling for a moment before she caught him. Her grip was like iron as she kept him standing. Yeah…this was the girl who thought she could go toe to toe with a hungry vampire, and honestly she probably could. Derek chuckled sheepishly as he held onto her arm and pulled closer to her.

“You look perfect, we’ll be the talk of the city tonight I’m sure.”

When Xrn laughed it was as if the whole room’s lights decided to shine a little brighter. Even the rays of the sun that managed to slip in between Paeth’s vampiric architecture sparked a bit more.

“Maybe so, I have been looking forward to this all week. I am going to order all the best food.”

His smile faltered a bit, wondering how his paycheck was going to be able to keep up with the much taller mothgirls appetite. But he did owe her, without the illuminator appearing when he did, she would have defended him with everything she had. After talking to her for a bit, he knew just how sweet and kind she really was.

“Of course, my heroine, my knight in shining armor. Anything for you.”

It sounded a little cheesy in his head, but her laughter as they walked out of the apartment building together arm in arm made it worth feeling a little embarrassed. The pair took their time walking the dark stone streets, crossing the roads together, and even watching a small street show put on by a group of leprechauns. Xrn cheered and clapped at their magic, awing at the rainbows, before returning to their winding walk. Finally coming to a stop outside of the Tower of the Sun. The massive dark building capped by a golden dome that overlooked the valley that the city sat within. High enough to see just outside of it, and extend the hours of sunlight ever so slightly.

Xrn looked positively delighted to be in line for the elevator, her fur almost twitching with delight. Derek chuckled when she squealed upon getting inside the elevator. Patting the arm that was entwined with his softly, even as she squeezed his shoulder with her upper arm. Using the other two to punch into the air. Nearly hitting a floating vamp, who looked down with a hint of distaste.

“You are very cute, but let's try not to disrupt the other customers here ya?”

The normally demure mothgirl blushed and apologized quietly to the vampire who nodded haughtily. Swooping down out of the elevator once the doors opened, rather rudely too, as they were closer to the door than the flying bloodsucker. Derek shook his fist behind the vamp’s back and Xrn let out a little titter of laughter into her hand. Delighted by his boldness despite being only a human.

The pair were seated by the hostess, in a booth with the best view of the sunset. Reflecting off the golden dome and showering a cascading cone of sunlight across the sides of the mountains that made up the valley. Derek just watched as Xrn became fully entranced by the sunset, her eyes widening to take it all in, antenna standing at full attention, and he ordered her a drink as the cocktail hour wound down. He hoped she’d like it, a persimmon mule, another one of her favorite foods. He hoped she’d like it.

When the sunrise was almost over, she looked down and saw the drink. Grinning with delight she took a sip, then looked at Derek and raised an eyebrow, took one more sip and then set it down. With a deep sigh she crossed her arms and looked at him.

“Did you just look up Luna Moths favorite foods and ordered me a drink based on them?”

Her tone was not angry but a little overwrought.

“Uhhhhhhh, yes?”

Derek shrugged sheepishly, inwardly wringing his hands back and forth underneath the table. Then he felt a foot nudge his leg and Xrn began to giggle, then laugh uproariously. Drawing the attention of most of the restaurant as he felt his face begin to burn bright red.

“Derek, you are very cute. Don’t do that again. You got lucky this time, because I actually do really like this drink, but next time just ask what I like okay?”

She reached out and held two of her hands out for his, and gently rubbed his fingers against hers. The sunlight shining through her eyes as she caught the last rays of the sun on her antenna.

“So, um, what do you do for work?”

He asked a bit lamely, realizing that he didn’t know that much about her. Hadn’t even checked the tasks available in the app to see what she did in her free time. Not without understanding more about how the app allowed him to control those blocks of time. He didn’t want to change her life in any way.

“I work for the Andilet’s, they’re trying to find some rare resources around here. Some kind of Astral Forest, a Phase Spider nest, Oralchium Mines, that kind of thing. I specialize in finding all sorts of things. Think of me like a treasure hunter. What about you Mr. Fitzsimmons?”

Her eyes glimmered as she spoke, as if some of that sunlight had been captured in there. Escaping only as a sign of favor towards him. Xrn’s voice almost purred his last name.

“I-I work in data analytics for Runic Industries, their branch here has been trying to get the contract for a new. Well a new array to create artificial solar eclipses on holidays so that the vampires can spend more time outside. It’s a little silly but we’re hopeful that with that in our back pocket we can fund some more research teams. I think we’re getting closer to creating a tier five rune of preservation.”

Emboldened by Xrn’s genuine interest, he nerded out a bit. Going more in depth than he had to. The demure mothgirl asked pertinent questions, gave soft smiles, and Derek didn’t even realize that food was arriving until the waiter put a plate of steaming hot food in front of him. Xrn had gotten some kind of salad, and frankly the bowl was larger than Derek’s head, while had had gotten…wait hold on.

“When did I order this?”

The question hung in the air as Xrn crossed her top arms, even as the bottom pair began to spear into her salad with her fork. Turning up her nose at him haughtily.

“Well you ordered me a drink, I figured you wouldn’t mind if I ordered your food for you. Why do you not like it?”

Her last words carried no small amount of concern, but he just laughed. Slicing into a thick steak and shoving an almost too large bite into his mouth as an answer. Chewing and swallowing with great gusto.

“I love it.”

Looking directly into her eyes he glanced down at her food.

“Just greens, are you a vegetarian? I thought you were going to order expensive food.”

Not sounding disappointed in the slightest, Xrn looked down at her food. Lifting a fork laden with the leaves of the salad, that actually glowed slightly even to his eyes.

“Oh this? It’s just full of rare spiritual plants, chock full of mana, and trust me they’re very expensive. So don’t you worry about it. And yes, I am a vegetarian but I won’t lord it over you. I actually can’t digest meat very well, the consequences of being part moth.”

Her top right hand reached up and patted his head. Ruffling his hair slightly as his face became slightly red once more. The rest of the meal continued with soft jokes, and gentle ribbing every now and again. Derek managed to make her blush twice by the time they had finished, and after he paid she was laughing all the way back down the elevator. Her soft hair tickling his face as they exited the building.

The walk home was slow, enjoying each other's company too much to walk quickly. They watched the vampires flying in the sky, for all that the bloodsuckers felt like they were above the mortal population, they still wore suits and ties. Even moreso some looked like he felt in the mornings. Before long they had made their way back to their apartment building and stood in the hallway that separated their doors. To Derek it felt like an insurmountable gulf, one that he could never cross.

“I guess this is it.”

Derek trailed off as Xrn wrapped him up in a hug, all four of her arms encircling him. Feeling her lips against the top of his head had his whole body tingling. Especially her body pressed against his. He couldn’t help that her tits were right about at his face level, nearly smothering him with her voluptuous curves. His cock twitched in his jeans, straining to burst from its denim prison. Instead he wrapped his arms around Xrn, right above her ass. Wrenching his face up from her tits, he looked up at her.

That ever radiant smile beamed down at him as she lowered her head to kiss him. Her soft lips captured his own, sending him into another world. A world where everything was soft, as soft as her lips, it was another embrace. One that he tried to pour all his feelings into. He couldn’t help but moan softly into her lips, his fingers hesitantly pressing against the small of her back. Aching to grab handfuls of her ass just to pull her ever closer to him.

Before he could act on any of those desires, she let go and took a bashful step back. Shaking her head and sending her hair cascading around her face, covering her eyes. Xrn turned around, shifting her shoulders and allowing her wings to unfurl out of her backless dress. Their green matched the dress as well, perfectly disguised the entire time, now framing her backside perfectly as she opened the door to her apartment.

‘I had a great time Derek, let's do it again sometime soon. Perhaps dinner at my place? And maybe breakfast if you’re lucky.”

The mothgirl looked him up and down before slipping inside her apartment, the door shutting with a click behind her. Derek stumbled backwards, hitting the wall and sliding down to the floor. He kept his eyes locked on her door before shaking his head back and forth. Regaining some sense of self control before standing up and turning around to his own apartment and pushing the door open. Once inside he couldn’t stop himself from checking the app.

Their date had…increased her corruption score? He was practically giddy looking at her Love score. All that without any manipulation from the app. Derek punched the air, laughing with delight and throwing his phone onto his bed. Time for a quick nap before the Andilet’s party, he shimmied out of his clothes, tried to ignore his raging hard on courtesy of Xrn, and jumped into bed with a self satisfied smile that spread all the way to his dreams.

Saucy dreams about spending the night with Xrn, and in her soft embrace finding heights of pleasure he had never imagined he might reach. Then his dreams shifted, embracing a different tone. Isabella, the haughty elfin woman bowing down to him and begging to be commanded, to be dominated. Punishment for treating him so poorly the very first time they met. He’d claim her as his own, just the opposite of how he’d claim Xrn. One for softness, and one to vent his frustrations into.

His alarm blared once more, smacking Derek out of the realm of dreams and back into reality. Just in time too, as he slapped his phone out of its charging dock the screen flashed to his most important app. Just past midnight, and the week was technically over.

Filled the screen, flashing with every ultra loud beep of his alarm. Slamming into his still waking mind, Derek was only human and struggled to rise out of bed. Forcing his body to move inch by inch, the dark circles underneath his eyes didn’t help much with his image. Two energy drinks later and he was fully revitalized. Ready to rock and roll, Derek threw on the same clothes he had on earlier from his date with Xrn. It wasn’t like the Andilets knew that he had worn the same clothes on a date just a half dozen hours ago.

Using the gps on his phone, Derek trudged his way towards the Andilet’s mansion. The gothic spires and horsedrawn carriages lead the way even in his nearly **** state it would have been impossible to miss. The Ancient and Noble vampiric house had stood since the Empire of Night, and been spared by the Hunters of the Dawn when the empire finally broke in exchange for major concessions of land and territory. After five thousand years, and modern technological advancements the house was in a state of turmoil. Elders wished for a return to their world spanning empire, while the newer members wanted to take hold of digital territory and expand into trading and industrial goods. The current house heads Elizibeta Andilet, and her husband Nickolai Andilet were leaning towards purchasing an existing industrial company or two. That’s what the internet was saying at any rate, all across forums and message boards. He wondered if any of the elder vampires would be there, shuddering with fear he prayed once more to the goddesses.

Knocking on the door to the Andilet household was an exercise in patience all on its own. Despite the horsedrawn carriages and flying vampires that simply flew into open windows, he had to use the first floor. A massive doorknocker covered with stone fangs stared him right in the face. Trying to knock several times to no avail, Derek sighed deeply, slapped himself across the face twice to hype himself up and promptly grunted in pain as the stone tips of the knocker bit into his palm. Drawing forth rich red blood that stained the ancient stone crimson, pulling it back took a good grip and all his strength. Slamming it into the door, all of the noise of revelry inside the mansion ceased instantly. A small creak cut through the silence, the door opening to reveal the pale face of a woman staring out at him. Fangs bared and dripping thick strands of saliva onto the floor as her open eyes took in his blood against the stone.

“We accept your offering of blood, in exchange you may be assured of your safety. For none shall touch you in our halls on pain of eternal rest. Welcome, partake in our food and drink, speak with us as equals Bloodgiver.”

Well the internet forums hadn’t mentioned this particular ritual! Was he about to get drained and tossed aside? The incident from earlier that week sprang to mind. Some kind of elaborate ruse to tie up a lost end? No matter the case, the pale vampiress sprang into action as soon as she was finished speaking. Latching onto the doorknocker with both hands, a long sinuous tongue escaped her lips, lapping up the crimson liquid with gusto. Even moaning in perfectly pitched sensuous pleasure. Quivering with a raw and primal desire that Derek couldn’t help but twitch again in his jeans. He pressed the door open a bit further and saw every single other vampire at the party staring at him with barely disguised hunter.

Their chalices were full of blood, but still they wanted more. One man towered over all the others, stepped forward and bowed to him, gesturing to the woman who was still eagerly slurping up the droplets of his blood that had slipped from the stone fangs onto the floor. Her ass was shaking back and forth enticingly, with great effort he tore his eyes away and beheld the mountain of a man once more.

“Do forgive my wife, Lady Andilet. We did not expect a human guest to use the rituals of old to greet us. You must be Derek, we invited you here to thank you for not allowing that mothgirl to kill our son Edmumd. Please come in, my wife will be your…hmmm how might you humans say it. Follower? This evening.”

Derek looked back and saw her crawling on the floor towards him, licking the trail he had left behind him like some kind of ravenous beast.

“What the fuck…”

He breathed out, halfway in awe of having such a woman crawling after him. So single minded that diamonds scraped off her dress and spun out onto the floor yet her focus was singular.

“The ritual you began when you used that doorknocker. It is quite ancient. She will protect you tonight, in exchange you will give her blood of your body freely. You are quite lucky that it was my wife that opened the door first, if it had been an elder, like old Amaris over there.”

Nickolai pointed towards an old man who looked as if his skin had been stretched over his bones one too many times. Still he radiated danger like nothing else Derek had ever seen. Even the illuminator didn’t instill this much fear into his heart.

“He would have cornered you into a dark deal within ten minutes, giving him ownership over your bone marrow. And therefore almost all the blood you will ever produce for as long as you live. We will just take what you give us tonight, as we said. In thanks for saving our son's life.”

Jaw on the floor, Derek looked at Nickolai and realized that there had been some kind of massive misunderstanding. Likely because his son didn’t want to tell his parents just how close he had gotten to a massive scandal, but also because Nickolai and his wife were just so old. They didn’t even have a doorbell, how else was he supposed to get in? Mumbling a thanks, he just walked around aimlessly for a while. Followed around by the Lady Andilet literally licking up his trail of blood off the floor. Fuck she was so hot.

Then he noticed a young vampire glaring at him from across the room. Ah, the hungry one. Something about having his mother following him around like a bitch gave him the courage to approach the vampire heir. Countless eyes watched him cross the room, even Nickolai’s head turned in sync with Derek’s movements.

“Hey man, no hard feelings right?”

Unharmed hand extended, he tried to at least mend whatever small bridge there was between them. But the heir simply looked down at his mother, transformed by the ritual into some ravenous bitch in heat, and snorted before walking away. Leaving Derek in the dust, and the room simply exploded with gossip. Would a feud begin? Surely Lady Andilet was enjoying that humans blood a bit too much? It couldn’t be that good…could it? It did smell rather unique. Frowning, Derek found Nickolai again and raised his hand to shake with him. The much larger vampire laughed and hugged him.

“My son knows not the ways of the world just yet. He is rather sheltered, you must forgive him. I insist. Please stay, we are about to dance and make merry. I regret to inform you that we have no food for your kind here, but when you depart simply rest your hand upon the knocker once more and leave an offering. Then you will be freed from the ritual.”

The ancient vampire spoke jovially as somewhere in the mansion an orchestra began to create a beautiful symphony. Born of thousands of years of practice and devotion, it moved Derek to tears as his body moved on its own. Dancing with the vampires in what looked like dances from olden days, and to him felt as if he was moving through a stream of memories that were not his own. Steps guided by this phantom mind, he moved as if he was thirty pounds lighter.

Dancing the night away with vampires wasn’t on his bucket list before, but he had a fantastic time burning the midnight oil. There was something ethereal about it, and freeing in not needing to worry about being attacked due to Lady Andilet’s near constant presence. The hardest part was actually trying not to get a hardon as the vampiress floated after him. Eagerly capturing every drop of sanguine liquid between her black lipstick clad lips.

After nearly four hours of revelry, wine, and dancing, Derek decided that it was time to leave. He bade his goodbyes to Nickolai and several other of the friendly high society vampires, distinctly avoided Amaris, and walked out back to the front door. Followed by Lady Andilet, a dark thought entered his head. Without even thinking he pulled out his phone and snapped a picture of Lady Andilet, slapped his hand against the stone fang covered doorknocker just to walk away into the night.

Sunlight wound through the streets of Paeth as Derek made his way back to his apartment, admiring the new flashing entry on his phone.

He didn’t even have time to check what tasks were available. As soon as he got inside his apartment he passed out from sleep deprivation, collapsing onto the floor. The young man drifted off to sleep, wondering what it might be like to manipulate the head of a vampire house to do his bidding.
