Chapter 9 by Koriandr Koriandr

Ultimately, Damian decided to...

Break out

Whether it was the new pheromones coursing through her body or she was just so fed up with being stuck in that cage, she decided to break out. Perhaps even against her better judgement. Busting out was exactly what Poison Ivy herself would try.

Damian held her hand out and one of the leaves on her costume grew outward seemingly reacting to her gesture. Two small vines coiled around her arms and grew down to her hands. She was actually doing it! Had it been under better circumstances, she would have thought this was the coolest thing in the world. She had honest to god powers. That was something even Batman couldn't say. None of the other Robins, Batgirl, Batwoman, Batwing, Spoiler, Black Bat, Huntress, none of them could say that except for Signal but we don't talk about Signal.

Damian focused again. If this machine wanted her to be Poison Ivy, she was going to act like Poison Ivy. She held her hands out and clenched her fists. She swung at the metallic door sealing her inside the cell. The vines grew to be gigantic and took the form of human shaped fists. She bashed a dent in the door, catching the Batcomputer's attention.

"Miss Isley, please cease damaging your cell."

_"Fuck you!" _She cursed in Ivy's sultry tone.

Damian bashed the door again and again until she busted it off its hinges. Just like before, a swarm of tentacle-like metallic arms reached out for her. The Batcomputer trying its best to recapture her. This time though, she grew her vines to protect herself. She attempted a couple of her flips and other moves but stumbled and fell over a couple times. The heels combined with her new center of gravity threw her off balance repeatedly until she was **** to get the hang of it. If she didn't have her vines to protect herself with she would have likely been captured several times over. She fought her way to Redbird: her motorcycle resting on one of the suspended platforms and revved it up. She fled the cave, zipping right through the massive metal door just as it was about to close due to the Batcomputer initiating a security lockdown.

Feeling the wind in her red hair and against her bare chest was quite the rush on her bike. While she fled the scene, she began to wonder what to do next. She figured she wouldn't actually escape. But there she was a free woman. Strangely, she felt a tinge in her gut that seemed to guide her. It was like a sixth sense directing her to a large contingent of plantlife. It was calling out to her.

With no better plan in mind, she went with her newfound instincts and followed her senses. Onlookers pointed at her as she road into town. Seeing a green skinned woman with red hair and a skimpy outfit wasn't all too unfamiliar in Gotham. She was easily recognizable as one of the city's most notorious villains. It was no wonder that every citizen that saw her either feared her or wanted her number. She eventually found her way to the Gotham Botanical Garden. She didn't like this idea all of the sudden. Her common sense peaking its head out once more.

This was Poison Ivy's hideout. Again, exactly where she would run off to hide.

Still something urged her to go inside so she did. She couldn't stay out in the open, she was attracting too much attention as it was.

Damian entered and saw the overgrown garden from the inside. Vines ran along the walls, roots punctured the flooring, and despite how disheveled everything looked, she was enjoying it. There was a certain aura she could feel that emanated from so many plants growing freely as nature intended. Was this how Ivy felt all the time here? It was intoxicating. No wonder she defended her plants relentlessly. Damian wouldn't quite go as far as becoming an ecoterrorist though.

"Who's there?"

Damian turned and came face to face with the real Poison Ivy. She had a very confused look on her face. Ivy reached towards her doppleganger and shoved her against the wall. She summoned her plants to restrain her, the vines growing over her limbs to restrict her movement.

"Who are you? Why do you look like me?" Ivy frowned. She thought this was some elaborate trap. "Clayface if that's you, I swear to god I'll grind you up into fertilizer!"

"I'm not Clayface!"

Damian panicked. This was the real Ivy alright.

"Who are you then? I'd start talking if I were you!"

"I-I'm Robin! Batman's sidekick? It's me!"

"Are you screwing with me? That's not possible! That runt is a boy..." Ivy studied the woman in disbelief. Her eyes landed on Damian's bust and she raised a brow at the fake Ivy. She looked like a girl to Ivy.

"The Batcomputer went crazy, okay? It dosed me with some kind of serum with your DNA in it! It thought I was you so it was trying to subdue me with it."

Ivy looked aside for a second, as if doing the calculations in her head if that was even possible. She created the intial serum that did such a thing. Could it really transform others into her?

"Let's say I believe you... why come here?"

"I... I felt like I was being called here, I don't know!"

"So you can feel them too?" She furrowed her brows. The only other that she'd met like her was Swamp Thing and he was a noble defender of the green, albeit a little eccentric.

"Yes...yes I do..." Damian nodded.

The vines dissipated and Ivy took a step back.

"What is your name? Your real name?"

"I can't tell you that, it's supposed to be a secret..."

"Fine. We'll call you Toxic Ivy. Does Batman know this happened?"

"No, I had to break out and escape the cave... what are you going to do with me?"

"..."

What's next?
