Back to Route 2!

Once Leaf cleaned up, she dressed herself for the day, and the camper did the same.

"I never got your name." Leaf said with a small laugh. "Can't believe it. All of that and I never learned it."

"John," came his reply. "Yours?"

"Leaf." she answered.

It was an odd pause, as the both of them took in their mutual lack of knowledge. It made them both share a small laugh.

"I am going to get going." Leaf finally said. "I have a lot to do, and a Gym to beat."

"Pewter City, huh?" John commented. "Should be an interesting battle."

Leaf nodded, thanked the man profusely for his hospitality, and was on her way as the sun rose over the forest.

Route 2 was broken up by the Viridian Forest. Exiting through the trees, Leaf took a deep breath of happiness when she could see Pewter City in the distance. She was almost there. Moving forward, she kept her bag close as she moved, hoping to make it there as quickly as possible.

Before she could make it there however, a voice called out to her from the left.

"On your way to Pewter, huh?" said the voice. Leaf looked to see another Pokemon trainer, staring right at her.

Great, just what she needed.

"I am, yes." replied Leaf, trying to smile. She was hoping to make it to Pewter without a battle, but it would seem she was not that lucky.

"Are you planning on taking on the Gym Leader?" the man asked, a small smirk growing on his face. He was very heavyset, with thick black hair and a vest. He was not the type Leaf trusted, and the smalltalk was making her nervous.

"I was hoping to, yes." answered Leaf, narrowing her eyes. The questions were definitely awkward, and Leaf felt her hand instinctively move to her Pokeballs.
