Ashton rolls a 3.

Ashton sits up and looks at the board. She throws the die clumsily and it bounces until it falls off the table. The die is heard clanking onto the floor as it slides away from the group.

“Bruh, keep it on the table.”

Ashton groans as she gets up to retrieve the die.

“Do I reroll?” Ashton says while picking it up.

“Uhhhh…I don’t think so. The card has already changed. Look.”

Thomas points to the top card and sees that it's yellow again.

“Ah shit…”

“Well, you rolled a three. And it doesn’t want rerolls I guess. Doesn’t matter if you keep it on the table or not.”

“What happens if I DO try to re-roll? Will the card change colors again?” Ashton asks.

“I don’t think so, and I don’t wanna know. I feel like you’d break the game if you did that.” Thomas answers.

“How would I break it? We usually don’t accept rolls that go off the table.”

“Okay, but that’s when we play a normal game, like Monopoly, not a crazy magical game that can fucking change us if some bozo rolls poorly.” Yonah remarks.

“Hey man, that was like at the start of the game, can’t we just…” Joel speaks up when that last statement jabbed at her.

“SHUT IT JOEL.”

“You’d break it, cause it would try to change the card’s color again with your new roll. The color only goes away when you continue.” Seth chimes in.

“How do you know that though?”

“I don’t, that's just what I think. But I don’t think we should be limit testing this game when it is doing life changing modifications to us.”

“I agree, I read the rule book and I didn’t see anything about trying to reroll on your turn, but it doesn’t seem to like cheating in any way or form.”

“How is re-rolling a die that fell off cheating?”

“I don’t know, but I still wouldn't risk it.”

Ashton sat back down with the die, tossing it around in her hand. She was debating whether to roll again or not. She sat there, contemplating with herself, until she came to a consensus. She places the die on the board and decides not to reroll.

“It’s early in the game, probably doesn’t matter.”

She reaches over and moves her game piece next to Seth’s.

“What’s the damage boss?”

“Yellow card, another face and head change.”

“Cool, maybe I’ll get something that’s even milder than makeup.”

Ashton pulls the card up and reads out the riddle.

“Recklessly the die you threw,

Only puts you ahead of those who got two.

Don’t let it get to your head,

When we add a splash of red.”

“Uhhhhh…”

“Don’t know, don’t care. ‘I Continue’.”

Before anyone could say anything further, Ashton proceeded with her card effect. Everyone is surprised by Ashton’s sheer audacity, but at the same time, not surprised that Ashton was the one to do it without a second thought. While she may be a girl, Ashton’s personality is still the same as always.

“Oop.”

“That was fast.”

“No riddle solving this time I guess.”

Ashton puts her empty lifeless card down. The others look over at the card and read the riddle again. Ashton doesn’t seem to really care and looks around, but doesn’t notice any changes. She looks to her friends: “Anything?” with her hands gesturing to herself.

Everyone looks up and sees the changes that occurred without anyone noticing. Unlike the other transformations that occurred before, Ashton’s happened very quickly. Almost as quickly as Ashton decided to continue after reading the riddle.

“Uhhh…yeah. Your hair…and eyes, they are indeed…redder.”

“More red.”

“Shut up.”

“Eyes? People don’t have red eyes though.”

“Well, you do. Look.”

Ashton pulls up her phone and looks in the selfie camera. Her eyes, no longer brown, have become a bright red. Her hair has also gone from dark brown to red.

“Eh, that’s not bad. I think I got off pretty easy.”

“I don’t know, Seth got off pretty easy too.”

Yonah grumbles to herself as she is seen massaging her ankles.

“Yeah, but there’s one person left.”

Ashton slides the dice over to Thomas.

“Fucking hell.” Thomas grabs the die.
