An ancient evil

Ranvi: Yes mother, what is it? You said it was of utmost importance.

Talzin: Indeed it was. Have you ever heard the story of how the galaxy was created? The story of the Ones...? Those are stories even the Jedi and Sith tell.

Lana: Yes, we know the story, The Father who keeps the balance between the Son and the Daughter. The Son is the embodiment of the dark side of the **** and the Daughter is the embodiment of the light side. They were the creators of the **** and thus, the galaxy itself.

Talzin: Correct, it seems at least the Jedi can still tell parts of the ancient stories correctly. The Son and the Daughter are known as the twin deities in our culture, we draw our magic from both their powers, while the Jedi and the Sith only concentrate on either of them.

Ranvi: What do you mean by "parts of the story"? Is there more to it?

Talzin: Even you my dear haven't been told about the whole story... That there weren't three Ones. But four.

Lana: A fourth...?

Talzin: Yes, the Mother, otherwise known as Abeloth.

Drek: The Mother...? Never heard of her...

Talzin: Originally, the Ones were three extremely powerful individuals, who possessed powers only gods have. According to our knowledge, once, there was a mortal individual, a woman, who got to the planet where the Ones were residing. She quickly grew close to the family and acted as a buffer to keep everybody from fighting one another. Thanks to her, the **** was in perfect balance for a time, without any conflict in it, perfectly blending the dark and light. Later though, she grew old as she was still but a mortal. When she was afraid she might die and lose her family which would plunge the **** back to it's original conflicting state, she decided she is going to become one of the Ones herself. She did the forbidden, drank from the Font of Power to gain the power of the Son and bathed in the Pool of Knowledge to gain the power of the Daughter. She has become the most powerful of the Ones, but at a price that her mind has been corrupted. She was just a mortal and couldn't handle the power and knowledge that she acquired. Having discovered this, the Father took his children and left the planet forever to imprison the Mother forever. He acquired the help of engineers from the galaxy to create a barrier that could hold her in there forever. Despite their best efforts, the Mother can still escape her imprisonment when the flow of the **** allows her to, but that happens only during every few thousand years, as the cycle commences. It used to be the responsibility of the Son and the Daughter to personally face their mother together during these times and **** her back to her prison.

Lana: Wow, that's quite the story...! Wait a second, but not long ago I heard in the Jedi archives that Anakin had actually visited the home world of the Ones and they all died during the encounter...! How are they going to contain her now...?

Talzin: Yes, you Jedi were never good at real diplomacy... The deaths of the Ones will ensure the galaxy's destruction sooner or later... Expect if you find a way to prevent that.

Ranvi: WE find a way to do that...? How...?!

Talzin: During my meditations, I had a vision about the location of the Mother's prison. I have checked our ancient records and actually managed to pinpoint the location. Our elders have been sensing her dark presence from time to time ever since our clan was formed, but we never dared to dream about thinking it was actually the Mother herself we felt. According to all the visions we have had through the centuries, the location of her prison must be in the Maw Cluster, just next to Kessel.

Drek: Hold on, the Maw Cluster is an unnavigable cluster of black holes, nobody can manage to go in there and return alive! This would be suicide!

Talzin: Hence, that place was created to contain the most powerful being of the galaxy. I need your help. I cannot leave my clan, but you could travel there and see what she truly is or how to prevent her escape, anything...!

Drek: That still doesn't solve the problem of being sucked into a giant black hole the second we step out of hyperspace!

Talzin (pulling out a datacron): This is an ancient datacron, created by the Sith a long time ago. It was designed to navigate you through the Maw, as it follows the flow of the dark side. To return you just simply have to go the opposite direction it shows. I have only some ancient maps that aren't that precise as the maps of your ships nowadays, but you might be able to find your path with them and the compass.

Drek: Hmm... If it truly follows the flow of the dark side of the ****, than the gravity bending power of the black holes would disrupt it and make it show only a path that's not going to kill us instantly... It might just actually work... In theory at least...!

Talzin (handing Drek the maps on millennia old papers): Here, the maps. Trust only in the ****, it'll guide you to your destination!

Drek: Oha, damn, what is that...? A map on actual paper...? I wasn't expecting to ever see such a thing in my whole life!

Lana: I have a baaad feeling about this...! Messing with godlike beings is way beyond my limits...! I'm not even having a lightsaber right now...!

Ranvi: Take it easy, she is imprisoned, right? She can't hurt us! We go there, avoid some black holes, take a look and come back with possible some good and useful knowledge! That's all!

Lana: It never goes that easily and you know that too...!

Drek: I'll drive, or otherwise we are going to fly the ship straight into a black hole, like the time Ranvi was driving straight into that other ship!

Ranvi: Hey! I told you I wasn't good at parking with a spaceship! I always use autopilot!

Drek: Yes, but that didn't have one and where we are going we won't be having a map to use autopilot with!

Lana: Can't you just argue along the way? I feel like we can't skip this one no matter what, so better get going. The sooner we get back, the sooner I'll have the opportunity to get a new lightsaber!

Talzin: Go forth and find a way to avoid the destruction of the whole galaxy!
