Chapter 2 by DankBoi22 DankBoi22

What was this girl's name?

Al'Rinda (Original Author)

"Mortals!" Her voice called out. It boomed around the room, despite her voice being more high pitched than low. "I have been temporarily unshackled to perform my deeds. I am Al'Rinda, genie of this lamp. And I shall grant 3 wishes to my master."

All of the girls stared at the genie. She looked ethereal, with purple skin and darker purple hair. She was short, and she cast her orange eyes at the girls arrayed around her. A moment passed, and then Alexis and her group of friends all started shouting over one another.

"I wish to be immortal!"

"I wish to be the most beautiful and popular person ever!"

"I wish I was royalty!"

"I wish for superpowers!"

They were trying to rush past each other to get closer to the genie, pulling the other girls back by the hair or clothes in an effort to pass them.

"FOOLISH!" Shouted Al'Rinda as she floated into the air to loom over the girls. "I will only listen to my master."

"That's me! I rubbed the lamp!" Alexis shouted triumphantly. She emerged from the cluster of fighting women and pointed a finger authoritatively. "I am your master! Give me all the power in the world!"

Alexis cackled as the genie stared down at her.

"You... are not my master."

"...What?"

"My master is the owner of this lamp." Glancing down at her lamp, Al'Rinda cast her eyes around, strange symbols whirling in place of where her pupils would be. "And yet, this lamp is owned by... a... company? How intriguing."

Alexis's mouth dropped before she tried to argue. "No! In the stories, whoever rubs the lamp gets to make thr-"

"This is not a story, mortal. You have no say in this matter." Without turning her head, Al'Rinda pointed a finger at Alexis, who suddenly found herself unable to open her mouth. She tried to yell, turning her face purple in the process, but to no avail. Maria, Samantha and Kyleigh were pointed to in turn as well, causing silence to fall over the room as the genie pondered.

"The company's ownership is legally distributed equally amongst those of the Parks family. Therefore..."

Al'Rinda turned towards Libby, who was still laying on the ground, but had stopped crying.

"You must be my master. Your wish is my command. I have but a few restrictions: no control over the dead, no wishing for more wishes, and no wishes that would circumvent these restrictions. Everything else is on. The. Table." The genie puncuated each word with a snap of her fingers, generating a chair and a table for Libby. A wide, sadistic grin spread across her face as the girl slowly got up and sat down in the chair.

"Oh, and one more thing... be careful what you wish for, for it may not come to fruition how you desire."

Al'Rinda cracked her knuckles in front of her as a floating drumset appeared, giving off a drumroll as Libby looked at her with a sad expression.

"Please, Mrs. Genie... make them not bother me anymore."

Al'Rinda's grin faded quickly as the girl's politeness and wish took her off guard. She was used to the folly of youth, wishing to become rich or powerful or loved. How she revelled in twisting their desires back on them, like knives shoved into their stomachs! But this girl was different from the arrogant and evil wish makers she had previously been bound to. Forcing a smile back on her face, she regarded the girl in front of her appraisingly.

"Wow, that's rather open ended. If you want to be more specific, go ahead. I could make them forget you exist, compel them to never go near you, make them live in another country, or simply make them go to another school. I could even change you with that wish, making you live in another country or even making you enjoy being picked on by those girls. You need to say 'I wish' at the start for it to count anyway."

"...You can decide, Miss Genie. I don't want to feel like this anymore. I wish they wouldn't bother me anymore." Libby laid her head down on the table.

Al'Rinda stared at Libby for a moment before snapping her fingers. Nothing noticeably changed. Libby didn't even look up.

"Aren't you curious about what I did?"

"As long as it works, I don't care."

Al'Rinda rapped her knuckles on the table and puffed up her cheeks in a pout.

"Whatever, I guess I'll just tell you. They now have to listen to anything you tell them. So if they're doing anything to bother you, you can just tell them not to do that. Or even better, not to do that ever, so they would never do it again. Or you could even tell them to serve you for your entire life! You deserve it, you know, and so do they..." The genie floated around and nudged Libby with her shoulder. Libby raised her head and regarded the girls in front of her as they all looked at her fearfully.

"You guys, don't do anything mean to anyone else. Ever."

Al'Rinda quietly undid the magic preventing the girls from speaking. Alexis's face was bright red from the embarassment of being shown up by this nobody. In a fit of rage, she rushed towards the table to try to jump over it and tackle the girl. Just before she was about to jump, her body betrayed her by coming to a complete stop inches before the table. Try as she might, she couldn't get any closer to the girl. Libby smiled exhaustedly at the expressions on Alexis's face as she tried to yell at the girl, but found herself unable to.

Al'Rinda perked up at the grin on Libby's face and grew to ten feet tall as she flexed muscles she had suddenly grown.

"See? See? Look at the power I wield! Consider yourself lucky, and consider the power you wield! You have two wishes left, and not to be rude, but you kind of wasted the first one, so make your second one count!"

Libby closed her eyes for a moment as she thought. When she opened them, Al'Rinda was floating an inch away from her face, eyes level with hers. She screamed and fell over in her chair, making Ak'Rinda smirk. Libby giggled a bit, and then sat up.

"I wish... that me, and my friends, and, and my family, all live long and happy lives. But not like, forever long."

The genie stared at the girl on the floor as if she was crazy.

"Seriously? You could have given everyone, like, 500 or 1000 year lifespans just now. Or made them exist in bliss forever. And again, I can do whatever I want with this wish."

Libby reached up and grabbed the genie's hand.

"But I trust you, Miss Genie. You saved me."

Al'Rinda glanced away as she held the girls hand. "Please, call me Al'Rinda."

With her free hand, Al'Rinda snapped her finger.

"Your wish has been granted. You, all your friends and family, and I've included your entire lineage and any friends you make from here on out, will live somewhere in the range of 90-110 years, without major strife or injury."

"You're the best, Al'Rinda! And you must call me Libby! No more 'master this' and 'master that'."

Libby's eyes sparkled as she jumped up and hugged the genie. "Thank you so much!" Tears began to flow down her face again. Al'Rinda looked uncomfortable as she patted the girl's back.

"Okay, listen to me carefully, master. You have one wish left. You should use this one for something huge. Master of the world! Infinite riches! Beauty beyond compare!"

"But Al'Rinda, I have what I want. I have happiness and health, family and friends. To gain everything else would be to skip out on the experiences and struggles that makes me human!" As she said this, Libby started walking around, grabbing all the pieces from the ceramic plate that had shattered.

"Master, did you hit your head when you fell? Just kidding, you're in good health, like you wished. But seriously, come on! No one's going to judge you for skipping past all that noise!" Al'Rinda floated along behind Libby, magically fixing the objects that had been broken before she had been unleashed.

"But I will judge myself. And I must experience the bad things in life to truly appreciate the good things in life. And so I have no need for this last wish. Al'Rinda, you've changed my life. What do you want?"

Al'Rinda stopped dead.

"Me?"

"Yes, you! You've been so kind to me, and you deserve more than I can give you. So I'm sorry, but you're going to have to give it to yourself."

"I-I couldn't possibly-"

"I wish for whatever Al'Rinda truly desires for me to wish for most."

Al'Rinda's face showed her true shock as her fingers snapped the moment Libby had finished speaking.

What does Al'Rinda wish for?
