It was when Candace's mom was pregnant with her. Candace's mother was an avid nudist who, using various technicalities, legally managed to remain naked anywhere with the only condition that she could never wear clothes or shoes again. However, because of some of those technicalities she did include Candace so that since she was born she has been forbidden to wear clothes or shoes.

This caused a lot of problems and a certain discomfort for Candace. In addition, although her relationship with her mother is good, Candace has a certain resentment for being the reason for her to be able to wear clothes.
