A lot of Borg

“How are you projecting this,” Tendi asked as she carefully stepped on a glowing magenta bridge. The bridge was being projected from Gwen Tennyson’s hand and the rescue party was already using it as a shortcut across the deep chasm in the middle of the room. For dozens of stories, rows upon rows of Borg drones were resting in alcoves.

“I utilize mana, the life energy of the universe and can manipulate it,” Gwen explained distractedly as she focused on the bridge. While they crossed, Kyoka and Katara watched the drones nervously.

“Shouldn’t we be quiet?” Katara asked as her hand twitched when she heard some distant sparking. Tendi raised her tricoder and showed Katara the information on it.

“They do not have any lifesigns so we can be as loud as we want,” Tendi shrugged.

“Then why did we have Gwen make this bridge if we could’ve gone around?” Kyoka complained, flinching as she saw debris fall from the tall ceiling and plunge down the chasm. The crash 15 seconds later didn’t calm her nerves.

“It’s faster and we need to find mom and dad before the battle picks up,” Jessica pointed out. The ship took that moment to shake and more debris to fall around them. Jessica screamed before Pixel’s eyes’ glowed.

“AHHHHH!!!”

“Jessica, you can–” ”AHHH!!!” “stop screaming now.” She blinked and Jessica realized that they were no longer standing on the mana bridge. Laura and Shampoo looked over the edge of the platform they were all standing on.

“Good thing we were not on the normal walkway,” Shampoo noted. On both sides of the room, there were now gashes that rendered the walkways destroyed.

“Kirlia!” Pixel warned as a set of doors swished open without warning and the lights went out. Jessica screamed as glowing green eyes appeared.

“What’s happening out there?!” Boimler question, looking around as the beach started to glitch out and blur. You got to your feet unsteadily and took wobbly steps towards Jacey who seems to look angrier the more the simulation malfunctioned.

“I think the Cube is getting hammered,” you said loudly as Diana steadied your stance. A few meters away, a group of beachgoers suddenly screamed and disappeared which gave you an idea. “Can you help us disconnect from the Borg network? We might not be able to escape or be rescued. We need to save ourselves.”

“If you think I can do that, then you are a fool!” Jacey shouted back, her fists balled up. You and Mariner were taken back at the tone change. Jacey’s skin started to become paler and more like how you recall the Borg Queen to look. “The Cube is going to make its escape, I…the Queen wanted to make Risa into a proper Borg planet and rebuild. Now it is time for the Queen’s backup plan.”

“There has to be something we can do. I’m not just going to lay down and take this,” Mariner declared, ending with her brow frowned and jaw clenched. Jacey stared at you with a calculating face.

“Do you know any way to get the Cube to safety and buy us more time?” You were confused and glanced at Mariner to see if she had a clue. Curiously, you saw that the Borg bits that were on Mariner seemed to have regressed a bit and were covering less of her face.

“What do you mean? Even if I knew a way, why would I help the Borg?” Jacey did not take the question well.

“If the Cube is destroyed then we all die. You are from another universe, surely you know something!?” Jacey exclaimed exasperatedly, throwing her hands up.

“I mean yeah I know of different FTL methods but I don’t know how they work,” you said and suddenly you were watching memories of hyperspace, slipspace, stargates, and a few other space travel methods. Falling to the ground as the Unimatrix glitched out more, you looked up to see Jacey smirking before it slipped away.

“You’re useless!” She stomped her feet before you and everyone around you blacked out.

A few seconds later, you let out a screaming gasp as light flooded your vision. The first thing you noticed was the return of your plant connection as you could feel the bit of plant energy from the seeds in your pocket and the flower bracelets around your right hand. You open your eyes and behold a circular room with all sorts of Borg consoles and devices around. You look to your right and see Diana and Biomler restrained in upright standing slabs. Turning to your left you see Mariner and to your surprise Suki and Sabine. Around the room were other people in partial states of assimilation with tubes and wires attached to them.

In the center of the room, stood a kinda imposing figure connected to dozens of cables, some sparking, most not. The female figure walked out of the shadows created by the center chamber and approached you. You could see some resemblance to Jacey but it was very clearly the Borg Queen.
