Chapter 8 by TrpclThndr TrpclThndr

What’s the Epiphany?

A Proposition

George stood at his locker, emptying his Math textbooks as he prepared for recess. From the distance, he heard some calls of ‘George!’. Instinctively, he ignored them, continuing on with his day, until he felt someone tap on his shoulder. He turned to see Brionna Garcia.

“Hi George!” She greeted with a big smile.

“…Hi?” George responded, confused as hell.

“I wanted to talk you!”

“…Are you sure you don’t want to talk to George Grey?” George asked, referring to the other George.

“What? No.”

“Really?”

“Yeah. Why would I wanna talk to George Grey?”

“Why would you wanna talk to me? He’s like, the better George, right? Like, clearly.”

“Do you think I just want to talk to someone called George?”

“I don’t know, maybe? Makes more sense than you just wanting to talk to me.”

“…Yeah, no, I do want to talk to you specifically. I actually have a proposition.”

“…Ok?”

“So you know how you said you’ve never had a girlfriend before?”

George nodded, still suspicious.

“I thought I’d help you!” Bri declared with a proud grin.

George was stunned into silence for a minute. “Wha-wh-err, ok, so, a few questions.”

“Go ahead.”

“Why?”

“Let’s just say I’m feeling charitable.”

“…Ok, no offence taken…” George muttered, before raising his voice again. “How do you plan on doing this?”

“I don’t know, I’ll like, give you advice and shit.”

“Have you actually thought about this for more than a second?”

“I’m starting to figure out why people prefer talking to George Grey.”

“I’ll take that as a ‘No’ then.”

“I’m still in the early stages of the planning process. But I figured I’d get you on board before Project Cupid goes further.”

“Project Cupid?”

“Yeah, Project Cupid. What about it?”

“Did you think about that name for more than a second?”

“I’m trying to do a good deed here, you dick. Just accept my help.”

“…I’m fine.”

“What do you mean you’re fine?”

“I mean, I appreciate the offer and all, but I don’t think I need your help. I’m pretty alright with my life as it is.” George concluded as he started to walk away.

“So you don’t want help with getting Ani to go out with you?”

George froze, before turning back to face Bri. She had a shit-eating grin on her face: she knew she did something.

“Who said anything about Ani?” George retorted, trying his hardest to fight a blush.

“No one. It’s just, in the one second of planning I did, I came to the conclusion that she would be the best match for you. And you clearly like her.”

“I mean, yeah, I like her as a person.”

“And I’m sure that’s the extent of it.” Bri said with a wink. George rolled his eyes.

“I told you, I’m alright with the life I have right now. I don’t need your help. Go do something actually charitable.” He finished, and this time he successfully got away.

Bri sighed. Welp, time for Plan B.

Welp, that was a bust. What’s Plan B?
