I just look at him as I consider his offer. on one hand I still can't shake this bad feeling the whole time I am looking at him. on the other though the lessons he is offering could be useful. if I am going to be stuck in the village it would be good to learn the bureaucratic side of things. also, while I have made progress on wind jutsu's I have noticed that he wrote most of the book Konoha has on wind style.

"What is in it for you," I decide to ask. this man would never do anything just to be nice.

"I am an old man," he said. "I know my time on this world is limited. I want to ensure the strength of the village for future generations." he reaches up and grabs where his arm was. "Like I said I understand what it is like to suddenly move from the front lines to the support roles. I know that for a time I wasted my ability to be an asset to the village in denial. but I eventually found my path to protect the village of all threats. I just want to make sure another does not waste their time and become another asset to the village."

the whole time he was talking I looked him in his one good eye. to be an asset to the village, to help keep the village strong, protect the village from all enemies. these words kept bouncing around in my head. he is right I have been in a daze since I was informed about the decision. how long would i be like that before I found an option. hell, I spent a chunk of today walking around the village not even noticing the day had passed.

"I think I will agree for now," said Naruko.

"Good," he said holding out his one good hand. I reached to take it. I could not shake the feeling I just made a deal with the devil. it was not helped by the smirk I saw on his face. "I am glad you agreed. after all, everything we do is to make the village stronger."

"To make the village stronger," I mutter under my breath in a daze. why is that phrase getting stuck in my head.
