Chapter 41
by reaper13
Will Liandra trust them to be honorable?
yes, but remain weary of them
Kendal straightened himself.
"My business ... is to convince your father to offer me your hand in marriage."
"Hah!" Mortimer mocked him. "You're to late for that, villain. She has already been betrothed to me."
Kendall turned his gaze at Mortimer and grinned. "It wouldn't be the first time a proposed marriage had been annulled."
"I wouldn't try my luck, sir Kendal. My father is quite a religious man. He would never wed me to someone so steeped in unholy magic as thyself."
"With the right leverage." Kendal informed Liandra. "Anything is possible."
Kendal motioned to the woman in the red gown. Upon this command, she reached into her satchel and brought forth a book. It possessed an ancient Luxian symbol on it's cover.
"This is a book which was taken from our Luxian oppressors after Nocternia first rebelled. I believe it has become time for it to be returned to its rightful owners."
When Liandra realized what the book was, she froze. This was not just any book, but their most holy artifact. This book was written by Lux himself, patron god of Luxius, the god of illumination. Many wars have been fought to try and get it back, all have failed. For all the precious lives that were lost, the highest power in Nocternia was now willing to just give it back. No wars or countless deaths required. There was a very high chance her father would actually agree.
"And before you intend on doing something stupid. Lillith here knows fire magic. Unlike my shadow magic, which you just suppressed, this is not dark but elemental magic."
Liandra squinted her eyes at him. She has never been this angry at anyone in her entire life.
"Threats are so barbaric, dear princess. But leverage, i find it a lot more ... satisfying."
Upon saying these words, Kendal turned and walked away, followed by his entourage
What is Liandra's next step?
