Stash a chicken bone so I can make a weapon later.

I slipped the chicken bone under my bed sheets. I could sharpen it into a stake later.

"I saw that, give me that," he said flatly, and came to the cage, demanding the bone.

Using the bars of the cage for support, I went over to him, but at the last second, I snapped the bone in half and went after his eyes with both hands.

He caught my wrists.

"No. Bad girl."

I stared him straight in the eye for a moment. My lavender eyes focused on his blue ones, trying to intimidate him, but his straight face never faltered.

I looked down as I realized I'd dropped my blanket...and was once again exposed.

I dropped the snapped bone pieces, so he released me, and I backed up to my bed.

"Oh, no, get your ass out here," he hissed, opening the door.

I slid as far away from him as possible, my heart pounding.

"Come here. Now."
