went home to see Amy

You got home very late. You walk into the little apartment to see her sitting alone on the couch. You didn't know what to say. You knew something had happened.

"Hey, baby." You said this as you walked over. "How was your trip? Did you have a fun time?" She was silent. Her face was emotionless. You couldn't tell what was going on. "Um... Baby. You okay."

She turns to you, her eyes looking at you. She had a devious smile. "Yeah. Everything fine." She said.

Her facial features look very different. She was wearing makeup and looking well put together. She was no longer your little shy girlfriend.

You couldn't believe it. "So, how was the trip?"

"Oh, it was great. We have a lot of fun. Your boss and I had a blast. We hang out with his friends and did some sightseeing. It was a nice time. You should come with me next time."

"Um... Yeah. Maybe." You said it, not knowing how to reply. "So did anything happen?"

"Nope." The way those four little letters dance off her tongue reveals something else. "Everything was fine. Don't worry. I'm here. I'm yours."

"Well good." You said you were not believing her.

She kisses you. Her lips are cold and stiff. It didn't feel the same. You wonder if she was lying or not. But you didn't want to push her. You didn't have the energy.

"I'm going to shower and go to bed." She said this as she walked towards the bedroom.

You couldn't believe that she was telling the truth. Your heart was telling you something was wrong. You ask her. "Can I come in there with you?"
