the pool deck is crowded

"Looks like we're not the only ones in the mood for a pool day!" said Abbie. The pool was enormous, with crystal-clear water that shimmered in the sunlight. The deck around it was made of smooth stone tiles, and there were palm trees and other tropical plants scattered throughout the area. The chairs were made of sturdy wood and had plush cushions, and the umbrellas provided just the right amount of shade.

The thing was -- it was packed with hotel guests. It looked like just about every chair was taken, and the pool was filled with folks swimming, splashing, talking, floating, and more.

"What about over there?" said Jake, pointing to what he thought were two empty chairs.

"Ooh, yes. I think so!" Abbie went running ahead to grab the chairs before someone else did. Jake followed behind more slowly. He stopped at the towel station to grab four fresh towels, and then caught up to Abbie at the chairs.

"I don't know ... there's a kind of crumpled towel on the floor near this one, but nothing else. You think that's someone's claim, or just a leave-behind?"

"Let's say it's nothing and take the chairs. Worst case, we apologize to whoever comes back."

Abbie nodded. She dropped her stuff in between the two chairs, and settled down on one of the chairs to enjoy some sun.

"Abbie, do you need anything?" asked Jake. "I was going to go to the bar and get a couple drinks."

"Sounds great -- surprise me!"

Jake smiled and headed to the bar.
