the men eyeball the women at the bar from a distance

[NOTE: This chapter happens in parallel with Abbie's narrative.]

"Dude, have you looked at Aguri's girlfriend?" said Danny. "I don't know how that little fucker gets such hot girls!"

"Hey, sometimes the little fuckers get hot girls, you know?" said Phil.

"True," said Rick, who wore thick glasses and a trimmed beard. He saw Aguri look back toward the table and smiled.

Danny also saw Aguri and gave him a thumbs up. "Damn, that girl of his is hot." Danny sighed and turned to Rick. "Your wife is definitely a step up from you. And you," he gestured to Phil. "Obviously you are the champion right now, Staci is a fucking fox, and don't think just because you're marrying her that I'm not allowed to notice how hot she is."

Phil smiled. "You can notice."

Arthur looked across the way to the bar. "I don't mean to just sit here and stare, but ... but I'm going to sit here and stare. There's five women over there and each one is hotter than the next."

"You're just so single that every girl is hot to you," said Danny.

Arthur glared at him. "Last I checked, you were single too."

"Yeah, but I'm not ****. I got laid two days ago."

Jake smirked to himself at this comment, thinking about the fact that he'd already had sex twice since he woke up this morning. He turned his head and looked at Abbie and thought, and if today is anything like yesterday ... He thought about the party they were all at, and couldn't help but imagine ... what if this party turns into another Abbie Andrews adventure?

In that moment, he saw the two other women with Staci both turn to look his way. His immediate reaction was a little skip in his heartbeat and the feeling of blood rushing to his face. Why are they looking at me? Did Abbie just say something about me? Jake wasn't really put off by it, but he was curious what conversation might have led to these two women he didn't know turning to look at him. He saw the dark-haired girl turn back toward Abbie and say something. Abbie nodded and smiled.

Of course, Jake wasn't alone in imagining fantasies at the party. While Danny and Arthur continued bantering about who had sex more often or more recently, Rick leaned over to Phil. "Dude, I know you're getting married, but like, you still think other girls are attractive, don't you?"

Phil looked back at him. "Why are you asking me that?"

Rick blinked slowly. "Because I've been married for four years, and sometimes I worry about that sort of thing."

"You mean, are married guys allowed to think other girls are attractive?" asked Phil.

"I guess, yeah, sort of that," said Rick.

Phil shook his head. "I certainly hope so. I'm committed to Staci, but I'm not blind and I'm not dead."

"I'm not blind either," interrupted Danny. "And those babies over there are smoking. I want to know them. Each one."

Arthur sighed loudly. "You're gross."
