"If you think you can beat me, you'll have to learn that the truth is never within reach—but I'll give you a chance. How about a game?"
Michael let out a short laugh but didn't step back. He glanced at the Sphinx, then at Harley—who was already hopping with excitement—and finally at Rachel, who was regaining feeling in her feet, her eyes burning with hatred and anticipation.
"A game, then?" Michael asked, his voice now a low purr. "But purely intellectual riddles are... tedious. Let's add a wager that stings the ego."
The Sphinx arched an eyebrow, accepting the challenge. She laid out the rules: four rounds. One riddle at a time. Whoever got it wrong—or failed to answer within the span of a single breath—would have to strip off a piece of clothing. Whoever ended up with the most clothes on would win Rachel's freedom and the others' capitulation.
Harley let out a squeal of delight, already starting to untie her hair ribbons.
"I love games where people get exposed!" Harley exclaimed, leaning toward Michael. "I hope you're smart, handsome, because I'm dying to see what's under that suit."
The first round was quick. The Sphinx, confident in its superiority, posed a riddle about the nature of time. Michael answered along with Harley; he got it right, but she didn't.
"Harley," Michael decreed.
Harley huffed and pouted, but with almost theatrical agility, she slid her red-and-black jacket off her shoulders and tossed it onto the damp ground. She was left in just a tight corset that squeezed her breasts and accentuated the curve of her waist, her eyes gleaming with a mischief that went beyond the game itself.

The second round was Michael's turn. He posed a logic puzzle that left the Sphinx momentarily speechless. Silence returned, but now it was heavy with desire.
"My turn to watch your clothes fall," Michael murmured.
The Sphinx, wearing a calculating smile, slowly slid the cape from her shoulders. The heavy fabric fell to the floor with a dull thud, revealing a green silk dress—so tight it seemed like a second skin, tracing every curve of her hips and the firm contour of her breasts. She was not defeated; she was seducing the very air around them.

The third round was chaos. A triple riddle. Rachel—still bound, yet watching everything with bated breath—saw the tension escalate. Michael missed by a hair’s breadth, a slip-up born of arrogance.
"Oh, what a shame!" Harley chimed, while Michael, a cynical smile playing on his lips, unbuttoned his shirt to reveal a sculpted chest and skin that glowed warm in the hideout's cold light.
Now, only the final round remained. The climax.
The Sphinx stepped close to Michael, her warm breath brushing against his neck. She whispered the final riddle—something about the nature of pleasure and pain. As Michael processed the answer, Rachel, driven by a surge of fury and desire, shouted the correct response before he could even open his mouth.
"The answer is the paradox of touch!" Rachel cried out, her voice hoarse.
The silence that followed was electric. By the rules, the Sphinx had lost. But the game was no longer about who kept their clothes on.
Michael looked at Rachel; her tactical boots were the only thing still shielding her from total vulnerability. He walked over to her, ignoring the Sphinx and Harley, and with a slow, deliberate movement, undid the lock on her chair.
"You won the round, Rachel," Michael murmured, sliding his hand along her thigh and feeling the fabric of her tactical trousers. — But who said the prize was freedom?
He pulled her up, their bodies colliding. The heavy tension ignited into fire. Michael pressed her against the metal wall, his hand sliding to the nape of her neck, while the Sphinx and Harley—now mere spectators to a game that had shifted in nature—watched with hungry smiles.
— Now — Michael whispered into Rachel’s ear as his hand moved down to her belt — let’s see which of us can strip off the last piece first.
The place became the setting for a frenzied encounter. Clothes were discarded not out of error, but out of urgency. The sound of cold metal contrasted with the heat of skin; muffled moans echoed off the damp walls as Gotham’s "God" decided that, on this night, the best view was undoubtedly that of them all completely disarmed.

Meanwhile, across the city—in the dark maw of an alley illuminated only by rain-blurred neon—the struggle between life and death took a visceral turn.
The Batarang had embedded itself deep in the wet asphalt, mere inches from the Queen of Jokes' boot. Batwoman had landed atop a decommissioned water tower, her black cape fluttering like the wings of a hungry bat.

"Let the girl go. Your fight is with me," Brianna demanded, her voice sharp as glass.
The Queen of Jokes let out a theatrical tsk, tilting her pale face upward. With chilling ease, she ignored the blade and kept the gravity rings pressed against Jade’s chest, forcing the Red Hood helmet to emit a metallic groan of buckling metal.

"Ah, dear Batwoman... you always show up to the party at the wrong time!" The villain let out a shrill laugh as she licked the blade, which was stained with fake blood. "But you know what? The Sphinx sent word: the new God is busy playing." Let's see if you can save your little friend... before I decide to carve up her face so it looks just like mine!
Choked by rage and the relentless crush of artificial gravity, Jade felt her vision darkening at the edges. Yet, deep in her mind, Michael’s distant presence pulsed like a dying star—indifferent, remote, yet terrifyingly present; it calmed her.
