As an outside linebacker, you are an important part of the defense. Your main task is to seal the entrance to your side. This means that no run can even hope to get past you and a QB should think twice or three times about a pass into the flat. But what is even more important is that blitzes are used here and they are very important for highlight tapes and for your rating. Because your team is important, but at the end of college all that matters is that you get into the NFL.
